...This is a great film for the kids and I am a big kid at heart. I was supposed to see this film at the Cinema but missed it, so I rented it and was disappointed that I missed it. It has the great Emma Thompson in it, opposite Colin Firth who I also think is a great actor.
In this story NannyMcPhee is played by Emma Thompson whose character is of an unsettling appearance, but she has magical powers. NannyMcPhee joins Mr. Brown played by Colin Firth who has just recently been widowed and is struggling to find a nanny to look after his seven unruly children. When NannyMcPhee turns up to take charge. Advantages: Brilliant Story-line, Great Entertainment and all round Family film to watch time after time Disadvantages: There are none except I wish it was a lot longer as you don't want it to end
...Emma Thompson as NannyMcPhee
Colin Firth as Mr Brown
The film is based on a widowed father (Colin Firth) who has 7 children who absolutely hate nannies looking after them, they will go to any length to have their nannies leave and feel they are big enough to cope on their own, even though they are the most mis-behaved children going. In total they have managed to chase 17 nannies from their house, and when Mr Brown goes back to the nanny agency to hire another he is told there are no more, that is until a knock on the door late at night brings NannyMcPhee to the house, a nanny with a difference.
This is an up-to-date version of Mary Poppins, and if you loved that then you will love this even better. Its a modern fairytale of love, magic and fantasy and the way it is presented is just out of this world. Its on the edge viewing...

Advantages: Funny, heartwarming and entertaining Disadvantages: All over too soon
...Seven naughty children where their only idea of fun is to get rid of their latest nanny faster than their last one. NannyMcPhee (Emma Thompson) updates the old favourite Mary Poppins for the 21st century and credits the children with the ability to learn from their mistakes and to take the consequences of their decisions.
Father (Colin Firth) has to marry by the end of the month or else his is disinherited by Auntie (Angela Landsbury). Suffice to say all ends how it should in a fairy tale. Fantastic sets and costumes, fast moving film with jokes for everyone in the family. Watch out for fantastic comedic appearances by Celia Imrie, Imelda Staunton and Derek Jacobi. So good that after I hired it the first time I went out to buy it for £13.74 from DotcomDVD so that I could watch it twice to see what I missed the first time!
The DVD...
