MY LIFE WITHOUT ME
I don't know why I woke up this morning, thinking I absolutely had to watch "My life without me". I can't figure out what motivated me like this. Maybe I had been willing to see it for a very long time now. Maybe I just wanted to see it before it is too late. ... Read review

The story ******************************************************************
At only 23, Ann has got a loving husband, two lovely little girls, a boring job cleaning universities, and a tumour in both her ovaries. And only two months left to live. She then decides to lie to the people she loves and enjoy the time she has got left. Hence, she sets ups a list of what she must do before she dies, and start working on it.
The actors all are very good and talented. No one is doing too much, just enough to be credible, and touch us,
Ann is played by the very beautiful Sarah Polley (eXistenZ, etc).
Don, her husband, by Scott Speedman (XXX 2).
Lee, (you will discover who he is), by Mark Ruffalo (13 going on 30, Collateral, or more recently, Just Like Heave). It is his acting that touched me the most. He is absolutely fantastic in the film and he conveys a lot of emotions.
It also has to be noted that the songs and music in the movie are really beautiful and appropriate, although they make you feel like crying...
My opinion about the film *************************************************
I don't know if everyone is in that case, but I have been telling myself every day thay I have to write this freaking list "To do before I die", but I have never taken the time to do it. Maybe I am simply afraid of facing the idea of death, of seeing my life as a countdown. We should all do like Ann, and get ready to leave anytime. Though at the moment, I must admit I am totally freaked out!
This film is absolutely heartbreaking. As we know from the very beginning that Ann is going to die, it seems that all little details suddenly take a huge importance, for example when she kisses her daughters goodbye before school. Just seeing this, you can't help crying, thinking that those two adorable little girls will soon be orphans.
Most of the scenes are extremely sad, it's a real torture. All way through the film, I just couldn't help thinking "What if that happened to me?". And the worst thing it actually might be, without me knowing it.
Over her last weeks, Ann achieves her dreams and desires, and plans her life without her, in order to leave behind her only hope and a lot of wonderful memories.
The movie is at times funny, at times touching, but always moving. I was on the verge of tears at least a dozen times, and suddenly, at the end, it all came out. I am sure that this film must have made many people cry, but sometimes it just feels so good!
The best part is that the film never gets cheesy. It doesn't give us the chance to sympathise with Ann. Many things are only suggested. It doesn't show the illness. Just hope. And life. It just lets us admire this wonderful young woman, and tells us one day, it could be us. It also lets us hope, that we will get the chance to get ready. Finally, it just tells us, like a whisper, to start living. NOW. We never know...
Advantages: Well cast, moving story Disadvantages: May be too hard going and morbid for some
This film is aheart wrenching potrayal of a woman on the edge, with beautifully scripted dialogue and a haunting soundtrack to boot this film draws the viewer in and wont let go until the end. I found the film a joy to watch, it is well shot with scenes moving into each other seemlessly and a well cast, Sarah Polley and Mark Ruffalo give a sterling performance and Sarah could not be better cast for the role. The film is not easy to watch and not ...

Advantages: Great Annimation, Lovely Story Disadvantages: Not found any
My whole family loved this film the story line was easy to follow and the graphics were fantastic, the film is jam packed with great jokes and it makes you think about under the sea life in a whole new way. My son loved this film so much that he asked me to buy it for him for his birthday on DVD. So he was deffinately impressed with the film.
My fav part of the whole film was the realationship between Nemo and his father and how his father struggled to find Nemo after he ventured out to far and got caught in a net. The graphics on this film were excellent and well put together I was realy impressed with the quality of the graphics. ...
Advantages: Still extremely funny Disadvantages: Little in the way of extras
The first six 'revolting' episodes of the scraps and scrapes of Richard Richard (Rik Mayall) and Edward Hitler (Ade Edmondson), two of the saddest experimental life-forms known to man.
For me possibly the greatest sitcom ever, it was great to finally start my collection on DVD and throw away those dodgy old VHS recordings!
Not much in the way of extras sadly, a few (very funny) out-takes and thats about it.
Fans of 'Bottom' will know exactly what to expect here - a ton of quotable lines, flatulence, comic violence, masturbation jokes, it's all here. For those not yet familiar with the escapades of Richie and Eddie, if you are expecting modern, sophisticated 'comedy', probably best to look elsewhere. If your looking for a bloody good laugh though, very highly recommended!

Who doesn't like a sale?
You can admit if you don't?
I was in Woolworths just after Christmas, looking at their January sales and spotted a real bargain. I have only watched two football DVD's in mylife but they are extremely good. 501 Italian Goals and The Soccer A.M DVD persuaded me to take a chance with this particular DVD.
The original retail price was £18.99, which to me a schoolboy is half my paperound money. The sale price was £4.99, so I thought I might as well give it a try.
It came in a normal DVD box with a shrink wrap cover. The main selling point of the DVD was that David Seaman was presenting. When I saw that it was the great England stopper presenting I knew that I couldn't let this deal fly right over my head. The last thing that I remember of David Seamen was him crying after Ronaldinho knocked England out ...

DVD Description
Sarah Polley delivers a heartbreakingly subtle performance in Isabel Coixet's MY LIFE WITHOUT ME. Polley is Ann, a young mother and wife who works as a university janitor and lives in a trailer in her mother's backyard. The relationship between Ann and her mother (Deborah Harry) is on shaky ground, and though her husband Don (Scott Speedman) is rarely employed, they retain an optimistic spirit. That all comes literally crashing down one morning, when Ann collapses, is rushed to the hospital, and discovers that she only has a few months to live. Determined not to tell anyone, Ann keeps this secret to herself, and instead embarks on a solitary mission to do a list of things she has never done before, including sleep with another man. It turns out that her conquest, Lee (Mark Ruffalo), is a soulful romantic who falls deeply in love with her. As Ann gets to know Lee further, she finds herself falling for him as well. Meanwhile, the realisation that it is all going to end one day soon continues to haunt her. Inventively blending a sobering naturalistic tone with moments of visual whimsy, Coixet's affecting drama allows Polley to truly shine.
