Advantages: Irene Jacob's performance and Kieslowski's direction Disadvantages: Difficult to fathom
price.
The film has a 15 certificate and does contain some sex scenes that are not overly graphic.
The DVD I borrowed was a two-disc collectors' edition, disc two being dedicated to extras. The first of these is an interview with director Krystof Kieslowski (1991) that lasts about fifty-five minutes and includes several excerpts of the shooting of 'The DoubleLife of Veronique'. Kieslowski talks about film-making in Poland since 1970 as well as about his personal attitudes. He explains that he switched from making documentaries because he was more interested in people's innermost thoughts and feelings. He always wants the various members of the crew to contribute something personal to his films. He talks about our responsibility for other people, and sees the main message of 'The DoubleLife of Veronique' as being 'live more carefully ...
Advantages: A good read Disadvantages: Far fetched in places, and chapters can be confusing
throughout.
The four main characters were Bella, Laura, Steve and Philip. Bella is married to Philip and has quite a comfortable life, while her friend, Laura, is a single mum to Eddie with a failed marriage behind her. Laura meets Stevie and begins to date him. He seems charming and is really good with her young son. He does a tribute act to Elvis and, for some reason that Laura cannot understand, Bella does not seem keen on Laura's new partner. She even tries to put Laura off him.
Steve gets through to the final of an Elvis competition in Vegas and gets to take 3 people with him. He asks Laura and because 2 of his friends cannot go, Laura persuades him that taking Bella and Philip would be a good idea.
While in Vegas, it transpires that Bella and Steve were not only once an item, but they were once married (I'm not giving ...

OVERVIEW
If you like physical comedy, are able to laugh at social class differences, and you can laugh at someone for always looking bad no matter how hard he tries to do the right thing, then this series is for you! It is superbly written and acted, and beautifully filmed. It is also incredibly rich and incredibly well observed with many sub-plots and engaging characters.

Don't let that mushy stuff put you off, this is far more rewarding than that!
This is another series that comes from a company that seems to have amazing success at writing first class comedies. Hat Trick is ...
