My Girl 2 is an American film released in 1994 although set in 1974. The film follows Vada Sultenfuss. In the first My Girl we were introduced to Vada , an eleven year old girl who lives with her father. Her mother died giving birth to her and so her father brought her up. In the first movie Vada's dad meets Shelley , who becomes his girlfriend. Vada had a best friend , who died when he got stung by a swarm of bees and that is where the first movie ended. So in My Girl 2 , we see how Vada's matured and how she has coped since her best friend died.
My Girl 2 was directed by Howard Zieff and stars Anna Chlumsky and Jamie Lee Curtis. Running time of the movie is ninety nine minutes.
I enjoyed the first My Girl so I was excited when I heard there was a My Girl 2 ; although I didn't know that there was one until thirteen years after it's release! I bought my copy of the DVD from play.com for a small price of £2.99.
I liked how it led on from the first movie as it allowed us to see what had happened to Vada. It was interesting to see how she had coped since the death of her best friend , and also how her father's relationship with Shelley had progressed : Shelley has a baby in this movie.
I felt sorry for Vada when watching this film , because it had always been just Vada and her father , and then her father met Shelley and then she moved in and now they have a baby , although Shelley really stands out in this movie ; she is so sensitive towards Shelley and plays the role of her mother really well as if she really is Vada's mother.
The acting in this movie is brilliant! My favourite character in this movie is Shelley. I also liked the character of Nick as he was quite funny. Vada's acting was great too , although her character was slightly annoying at times as she was quite moody. I thought it was sweet how in the first movie Vada looked at her best friend as a friend , whereas a couple of years later in this movie she is more mature and looking at her new best friend as a boyfriend instead of a friend.
The DVD does not have any special features ; I suppose this is because the film was made long before DVDs were invented!
If you loved My Girl , you'll love this!
* Quotes *
Vada: I remember before I was born, wounded up like a fur ball in the highly overrated fetal position, luckily I'm not claustrophobic, but on rainy days I still fell a tightness in my left shoulder. So now that my stepmother's pregnant, I understand what the baby's going through, and I'm not jealous at all, really, not at all.

I mean, she told *me* she told *you* about sex. I - I personally knew about sex long before I met Shelly. Vada: I figured you did. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Kevin: Vada, if bullshit wore a bra, you'd be top heavy.

aww, I'm glad you enjoyed this, but even though I enjoyed it I still feel it was rushed after the success of My Girl the film. The first was the original, but also much better made, a fantastic casting and really sensitive story to young love. But, yes I would see this again but don't tell anyone! sssh x
