We went to see this movie at our local Vue cinema, as it was advertised so much it seemed like an idea to get it over with. Friends of ours and reviews we'd read said it wasn't as good as it seemed, but I'm always up for seeing things for myself and off we went.
I'm not a real fan of horrors (bit of a weak stomach) but I was pleased that this was a movie I actually enjoyed.
The story begins with flashes of a newspaper story and the explanation that a mine had collapsed and everyone, except one miner had been found dead inside. Not by the collapse, but each one from a pickaxe through the head. The survivor was in a coma, but soon woke up and attacked a hospital full of patients before heading to the rebuilt mine, where a bunch of teenagers were partying and killing many of them. The survivors of this massacre include 2 couples, who are the main characters once the story moves on 20 years.
The storyline is excellent and really captures your attention. I personally spent most of the movie either dodging the amazing 3d effects, or trying to guess who the killer was, which at the end, came clear and left me amazed, as I'd had absolutely no clue. My partner didn't get the ending, but with a slight explanation he understood.

Advantages: none Disadvantages: avoid at all costs uless you are an easily pleased teenage boy!
My bloody valentine is absoloutly by far the worst film I have ever seen! I feel very upset at the fact that I will never get those 180 minutes of my life back!
i was sooo excited to go and see this film, all my freinds wanted to see somthing else but i made them wait in a que for 20minutes and pay for a pair of glasses that make you look like Woody Allan. When it first started and the 3-d effects first appeared it was a thrill, which very quickly ... ...effects. 3-D effects first . . film plot second or lack of!
A guy with an axe chasing the people of a small town around . he might as well of had a mask with a white face on and have a knife! The acting was awful, you can sometimes forgive bad acting in horror films as most story's are a bit tongue in cheek. But this made me want to vomit it was soo cheesy!
Im surprised people werent shouting 'he's behind you' . At one point a naked blonde got ...

Advantages: worth one watch - do it in 3D Disadvantages: Didn't have 3D, probably would only watch once.
...murders begin again...... My Thoughts - - - - - - Following reviews that I have read I really wasn't sure what to expect. I didn't see this in 3D which is a shame and I would have like to. I really love a good horror film, and while I wouldn't say this is a great horror film - it is ok. I enjoyed it, liked the twist at the end, it was unexpected, but on the whole it could have been better. I have not seen the original and from what I have read it ... ...as horror films go. It is very gory which works in this film. It is cheesy and doesn't really take too much thinking, but who's to say that is a bad thing - not me. It is actually quite refreshing to have a traditional cheesy horror film - these days horror flicks can be very intellgent, this is basic and goes back to some of the 80s horror genre classics with he added bonus of it being in 3D. ...

I was blown away by Lost In Translation so much that after I watched it, I watched it again! I also watched it every night for the rest of the week. I've seen it 10+ times and it never gets boring.
It's just basically about two lonely americans who feel isolated from their own partners and spend time in Toyko. Charlotte(Scarlett Johansson) feels so alone eventhough there are so many people outside and Bob Harris(Bill Murray) is having a mid-life crisis.
This movie shows how beautiful Toyko really is...like when Charlotte is walking across shibuya crossing and when Charlotte is tieing the paper on the tree in a traditional Japanese setting.
You couldn't have Lost In Translation without the Kevin Shields, MyBloodyValentine and Jesus and The Mary Chain music. Absolutely brilliant!
This really is a must see movie. In 50 ...

movies to stick to the gore and not try to keep the killer's identity a secret…you make your own mind up. No one ever wondered who Michael Myers, Jason, and Freddy were, did they? At any rate, because Valentine is trying to keep us guessing, it throws in numerous red herrings, and, when all is finally unravelled at the end, things don't make any sense. Or at least it didn’t to this reviewer, but hey what do I know.
Shades of Carrie come to mind, Halloween springs to mind, myBloodyValentine even, bit like Scream, bit like Scary Movie, bit like Urban Legend…but above all it’s a bit of fun if you like this type of thing. Not quite as scary as the trailers make out I’m afraid, but a reasonable bit of entertainment for all that and worth a fun visit to your local fleapit.
Footnote. The film is a little ...

A remake of George Mihalka' 1981 slasher original, director Patrick Lussier (DRACULA 2000) gives the classic tale of a madman stalking teenagers of Valentine's Day a millennium overhaul. SUPERNATURAL's Jensen Ackles stars as a man who is unable to move on from an accident he caused a decade ago that led to a murderer taking deadly revenge. But those events are no longer a distant memory when people in his small town begin to die again.

DVD Description
Bloodthirsty fans of the classic slashers of yesteryear should be sated by MY BLOODY VALENTINE (2009), a gory trip that's not just a remake but a retro-amalgam of the greatest hits from the 1970s, '80s, and '90s. The HALLOWEEN-influenced, eerily Canadian 1981 original holds a modest place in many horror hearts despite its notoriously trimmed violence. But even those who haven’t seen it will get the feeling that this VALENTINE sports an amplified blood-and-guts factor, one that brings with it the distinctly outlandish brutality and hulking-masked-killer archetype of a FRIDAY THE 13th instalment combined with the polished chase scenes of post-SCREAM teen horror.
As if this gore-ucopia didn’t have enough spices already, its premise and structure are also indebted to such cheeky mystery-slashers as HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME and APRIL FOOL’S DAY. A decade after traumatized miner Harry Warden goes on a pickaxe massacre, guilt-stricken Tom (Jensen Ackles) returns to his quaint hometown only to find that a string of similar murders has started up. With Warden believed to be long dead, Sheriff Axel casts suspicion on Tom. It seems his old flame, Sarah, is the only one who truly believes he’s innocent. The movie’s horror-expert filmmakers imbue VALENTINE with the reliably enjoyable entertainment-trumps-logic of slasher films, especially in the way everyone in town--including the police--seems way more interested in proving or disproving Harry Warden’s involvement than actually stopping the in-progress murder spree. Similarly, beloved genre vet Tom Atkins (NIGHT OF THE CREEPS) is on hand to deliver a coolly understated retired-cop performance. But peppered in are some nifty subliminal visual flourishes and at least one off-the-wall sequence (think fully naked, fleeing little people, and a box-spring-as-cage). The 3-D version is uncommonly well-integrated, subjecting viewers not only to hair-raising projectiles, but an effective immersion into the mise-en-scene
