My opinion --------------- First of all I have to tell you that this was a brilliant film. I loved it from the beginning to the end. I loved the wonderful performance of Julia Roberts and Rupert Everett. Both of them were brilliant. Julia Roberts had bigger part in the film and she was absolutely authentic. He won Satellite Awards in Best Supporting Actor category and American Comedy Award in Funniest Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture category. The film was nominated for Golden Globe and MTV Movie Awards. It was released in June 1997. The running time is 105 minutes, the classification is 12 years and over.

The plot ----------- Jules is a 27-year-old restaurant critic who went out for lunch with her boss and editor George. Jules receives a call from her best friend Michael that he wants to talk to her.
Michael and Jules used to be together once and made an agreement that by the time they are both 28 and neither of them is married they would marry each other. As there are only 3 weeks until Jules’s 28th birthday she was sure that Michael calls her for that.
Michael announced that in four day he will marry a 20-year old university student Kimberly Wallace. He fell in love with this beautiful and quite rich girl. Jules realises that she is still deeply in love with Michael. She goes to Chicago where the wedding is supposed to take place. She wants Michael to marry her. Her plans fail one after the other so she calls George to help her. When Jules introduces George to the bride turns out that they know each other. Jules asks George to tell everyone that they are engaged. He overplays this role and tells everyone their love story. He sings the film’s best soundtrack I Say A Little Prayer For You. How do things go on? Can Jules convince Michael to marry her instead of Kimberly? I wouldn’t like to destroy the brilliant film experience, so if you haven’t seen it yet give it a go.
My opinion --------------- First of all I have to tell you that this was a brilliant film. I loved it from the beginning to the end. I loved the wonderful performance of Julia Roberts and Rupert Everett. Both of them were brilliant. Julia Roberts had bigger part in the film and she was absolutely authentic. She was a perfect match for the role of Jules. The chemistry between Jules and George worked perfectly. Rupert Everett is a very talented actor and he is so handsome in this film. I loved how he sang to Jules.
Cameron Diaz had a smaller part in the film but she was good to. She had to play a beautiful bride who can have whatever she wants. I don’t think it was a challenge for her. My favourite scene was when she was singing in the karaoke bar.
Dermot Mulroney was pretty good as well. Actually the chemistry between him and Jules, him and Kim worked very well too. I loved when they danced on the board of the ship.
This film had a great soundtrack. I prefer this one to the soundtrack of Rachel Getting Married. I loved when all the people in the restaurant were singing Diana King’s song I pray A Little Prayer For You. This great song wasn’t the only one well known song in the film. I would like to highlight my favourites: Ani DiFranco’s Wishin’ and Hopin’ was pretty good too, Tony Bennett’s The Way You Look Tonight and Mary Chapin Carpenter’s I’ll Never Fall In Love Again. The soundtrack of this film was really outstanding. The music added to the emotions a lot and made the atmosphere even more authentic.
To sum up the story was great there were nice twists in it. I found this film funny but I have to admit that there were tear jerker plots as well. I don’t think it is a classic chick flick film but is mostly for women. You can guess the end of the film and you have 50% chance for it.
Advantages: A great film for Julia Roberts fans, and some great music Disadvantages: somewhat weak in some places, and rather long
This film is Julia Roberts transition from leading lady to star, and was let down greatly by many cynical, post Pretty Woman, critics. It does not claim to be anything other than a fast paced, funny film, with good characters and a lovely sountrack. As such, it is an all round winner.

My best friend's wedding is a romantic comedy with Julia Roberts.
It was made in 1997.
The director is PJ Hogan, who has also directed 'Peter Pan', 'Muriel's wedding' and a few others. He is not extremely experienced as a director, but does a fantastic job with this film. You really can't fault him.
It is written mainly by Ronald Bass, who also wrote more than 20 other films, including 'Stepmom', 'Sleeping with the enemy' and 'Rainman'. The script ... ...why this is, as in my opinion it has nothing in it. Basically, there's some brief references to sex and some nudity ( though really not much) and a little bad language. All of this is so subtle, that it you wouldn't notice anyway. But, in my opinion, the film is really aimed at people of at least 10 anyway, as kids don't want to watch romantic comedies often anyway.

My Best Friend’s Wedding is the one movie which, despite rating among my goggled list of best Romantic Comedies, always makes me cry at the end. When I first watched the movie, I was particularly touched by the friendship and complicity between the characters of Julianne and Michael. I thought they would end up happily ever after and even kept that hope till the end! What strikes me the most about this movie, though, ... ...at times. Personally, Jules is my favourite character in the movie. She may be proud and arrogant and a first-class hypocrite, but Jules is actually the incarnation of the little devil which lies in the heart of every woman faced with the same situation. My favourite scene of Jules is the scene when George sings to her in the restaurant. The look on Julia’s face is priceless! For once, Jules is upstaged and insecure, and these are the scenes that ...

My Best Friends Wedding is one on my favourite films, I first went to see it when it was at the cinema in 1997, and I loved it then and still love it just as much every time I watch the video!

My View:
I love this film, it is hilariously funny and the direction by P.J.Hogan is excellent. I am a big fan of his work including Muriel’s Wedding 1994, Ronald Bass’s writing is also excellent his work includes Sleeping with the Enemy 1986 and Rain Man 1988.
Julia Roberts and Cameron Diaz are both excellent in their roles and compliment each other beautifully. Dermot Mulroney is fabulous in his role as heart throb Michael O’Neil, ...

MyBestFriendsWedding is a typical romantic comedy. It stars Julia Roberts, Dermot Mulroney, Rupert Everret and Cameron Diaz.
Julia Robert plays Jules, a food critic and bestfriend of Michael (Mulroney). They have been bestfriends for 9 years and havent seen each other in months. Whilst Jules and her gay editor George (Everret) are out reviewing a restaurant, she checks the messages on her viocemail and has a message from Michael who asks him to call her. Before she does, she is thinking what he wants and comes up with the idea that he wants to marry her based on a pact they made years earlier.

a large selection of normal DVDs that would play images, lyrics and tracks all in one go on any normal player. When I went into the store to browse through the surprisingly large selection, this one certainly caught my eye. At £7 this was also one of the cheapest DVDs - what an opportunity!
The DVD has 20 tracks, which was about twice as much as most of the similarly priced DVDs in the rack. A lot of the tracks even I had heard of (I'm 19) such as Tom Jones' "It's Not Unusual" and of course The Beatles' "Yesterday". Other great songs include Roy Orbison's "Pretty Woman", Aretha Franklin's anthemic "I Say A Little Prayer" (does anyone remember that hilarious sing-a-long scene from MyBestFriend's Wedding?) and The King himself with "Return to Sender". Each track is a chapter on the DVD, allowing for easy skipping. Another advantage ...
