Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh Yes! Advantages: It's still good despite being 70 years old, entertaining for children and adults alike Disadvantages: None ...I instead decided to watch the Wizard of Oz, which I was delighted to see was playing on Channel Five. I hadn't seen it since I was a child, but remembered it being an excellent film so was fairly enthusiastic about seeing it again. Since 2009 marks the 70th anniversary of this famous film I thought it would also be interesting to see how well the film had stood the test of time as well as if I still enjoyed it as an adult. The teenage Dorothy lives with her aunt and uncle in a small town in Kansas, with her little dog Toto as her best friend and main company. All is well until her dog bites the leg of evil Elmira Gulch, who threatens to take Toto away, so Dorothy runs away with him. Greatest Musical of all times Advantages: A Film To Singalong With Disadvantages: Sixty Years old but its stiil great Now this must be the greatest musical of all times. Even though this film is like sixty years old if you have never seen it which im sure over half the population has done dont be mistaken on thinking its a very old film so therefore cant be that good. Dancer In The Dark - Film Only Advantages: Bjork, the musical sequences, the performances. Disadvantages: Morally, politically, intellectually disgusting. Dancer In The Dark, Lars Von Trier's bleak musical / docudrama hybrid, is, for me, a VERY guilty Guilty Pleasure. It is, in so many ways, a detestable, sadistic, misogynist piece of work. It is swathed in the kind of vacant, ignorant sloganeering that would be embarrassing coming from a sixth-form student, never mind a grown man. It's insulting intellectually, it's manipulative, it's wholly absurd from any narrative perspective... And yet - it has ... ...- and have watched - Dancer In The Dark seven, fifteen, twenty-six times, and will watch it as many times again before the decade is out, I'm sure, and always with the emotions racing this way and that even as the head tells me this, like the repugnant Breaking The Waves or Dogville, is abominable, offensive muck. "She's so swishy in her satin and tat" Advantages: Fascinating insight into Bowie's work Disadvantages: Probably not for newcomers to Bowie ...has consistently impressed me is David Bowie. Called a 'chameleon' for many because of the various characters that he has portrayed, his range of music is impressive. My favourite Bowie era is the early seventies, and thankfully, this is exactly the period that this double DVD and book set cover. Called a 'critical review', a number of people connected to Bowie and the music world are interviewed during the course of the DVDs. Two of those interviewed ... ...any kind of interview with David Bowie himself, except for the odd flash of an early seventies interview that he gave. I was initially quite disappointed to not have his input; however, in hindsight, this is supposed to be a 'critical review', so it makes sense not to have an interview with Bowie himself. Fantastic film anyone would have to enjoy it!! Advantages: Everything, sheer masterpiece! Disadvantages: Non apart from the fact it made me cry! In my opinion this film is fantastic. It is a classic tearjerker with lots of fun and exciting elements to it. I feel this film can appeal to absolutley anyone as the story is fantastic and the actors are vibrant and gorgeous (for both the men and the women!). All in all from my point of view this film is worth purchasing it will definatley take your breath away! The songs featured in the film in my opinion are absolutley fabulous, ranging from ...
