Advantages: A day of History on DVD. Loads of really good artists live. Disadvantages: No commentary and some of the extra's are a bit weak.
...names in music today performing live for your viewing pleasure. Its a bit like a compilation CD, but only you can see the artists performing live and the atmosphere from the crowds watching is electric and pulses through you as you watch. Its hard to explain in words how this show makes you feel. If you were there then you can reminisce of memories of the show you reember and the feeling you had when you were there. If (like me) you weren't there ... ...you can watch it all live now and still say that you were part of something big and helping the world.
Back to the DVD. Its crammed full of performances on each disk. All in great quality (audio and visual) and are produced and captured very well. You turn off the lights, pull the curtains across, whack on the surround sound and you will feel like you are there in the crowd. The atmosphere is captured very well.
The extras on the dvd are imho a ...
Advantages: Fantastic quality live show. Disadvantages: Could feature more insight.
...can mean only thing—a new U2 product has hit the shelves.
U2, no doubt having great success with the multiple versions of 2004's release of "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb," have released two versions of the companion live DVD. The regular edition comes packaged with only the concert DVD while the deluxe version includes a second disc with the "Beyond the Tour" documentary, show designer Willie Williams's surveillance cuts and an alternate version ... ...that had the members of U2 sitting down for a candid interview about the tour. Perhaps next time guys?
The extras on the bonus disc are a little disappointing with the exception of the "Beyond the Tour" documentary that includes some great interviews with Vertigo Tour personnel like manager Paul McGuinness, production director Jake Berry, Williams and, most interesting of all, an interview filmed in what appears to be a men's restroom with Gavin ...
Advantages: A great deal, see review Disadvantages: minor details really, see review
...had been inspired by this U2 DVD so far, I was eager to start my review.
I won't tell you the story of the Irish band as I guess you already know it, or at least you've heard of it. As far as I am concerned, I've heard of the band for the first time when I was ten. I've been a great fan since, although I've never seen them live in concert. My favourite albums are "The Joshua Tree"; "Achtung baby" and "Zooropa".
From 1990 to 2000, U2 made 5 original ... ...[2000]).There are two best of U2 divided into two periods : 1980-1990 & 1990-2000 and songs which do not appear on U2 albums but on films soundtrack.
If you compare the CD and the DVD, you'll note that there are more videos on this DVD, that's why I find it definitely more interesting. The main difference is that on the CD, you'll find the song "The first time" (which first appeared on "Zooropa") and as for the limited edition, a number of b-sides ...
Advantages: All The Best Of U2 Disadvantages: None
...had the pleasure of seeing u2 in concert three times now.I have been an avid fan of their music for roughly 15 years and watched as the band grew into what i consider the finest rock group of the last two decades. Its easy to sum u2 up with words like.brilliant, genius, entertaining and so on.I believe that you dont have to be a follower to appreciate the band and what they have achieved. They are probably the only band i know that can change their style ... ...expectant and rowdy 88,000 fans u2 returned to this venue twenty years on from when they first played there.
This dvd concert captures u2 at their very best and a 2 hour and 12 minute running time is in my opinion not long enough.
The opening is as spectacular as you would hope for and when the lights come up and they break into the song ELEVATION it still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.
Sporting his infamous wrap round dark glasses ...
Advantages: Amazing footage of the world's biggest band Disadvantages: Bono droning on occasionally!
This DVD sees U2 returning to their native Irish roots, playing a massive sold out gig in the beautiful setting of Slane Castle.
The moment the camera cuts to the band approaching the stage sends a shiver down your spine - you know that this will be a memorable occasion. The minute they walk onto the stage the crowd go beserk.
The band rip into hit single 'Elevation'. This is an amazing opening to a gig, a feat that U2 pull off with remarkable ... ...particularly poignant in the Irish setting. It sounds incredible and the fans sing every word.
All in all, this is a must have for any U2 fan. The setting is amazing. This performance sees the band on top form. All the hits are performed sublimely. Fantastic value for money. ...
