The hilarious world of antiques! Advantages: 13 of the best sketches around Disadvantages: No extras ...first became aware of the Acorn Antiques sketches on Channel 4’s 100 Greatest Comedy Sketches, it rated highly on it, and the couple of minutes of footage that was shown made me laugh so hard, I instantly became a fan! I started to hunt for any DVD’s that would include these hilarious sketches, I was aware that they came from the TV show “Victoria Wood As Seen On TV” but I couldn’t find a DVD of it. Then a few months later I found that they were ... ...included all 13 editions of Acorn Antiques (running about 5 minutes each, apart from the 12th which runs for about 10 minutes, as it is a mock behind the scenes look at how the fictional soup is made) including the continuity announcements that were on before each sketches, read by the wonderful Susie Blake. The best thing about Acorn Antiques is how it hasn’t dated, although it spoofs a soup that was on before my time and still (as well as my friends) ... The Rocky Horror Picture Show/ Shock Treatment dvd set Advantages: rocky horror - Very original, funny, good soundtrack. Disadvantages: Shock treatment = v poor in comparison to rocky horror. just weird. I watched the rocky horror picture show at a friend's house and immediately loved it! Whilst looking to buy the DVD for myself, i came across this dvd set, with rocky horror and the added bonus of a related "sequel" to rocky horror called Shock Treatment. I hadn't seen Shock Treatment but thought I'd like it, with it being so closely related and with a lot of the same cast. Firstly, I must say that I loved rocky horror. Despite it being so popular ... ...what they've gotten themselves into, the others sing and dance their way through the film, which includes the legendary "Time Warp". As the film goes on though, feelings of resentment and desire become apparent which leads to some dramatic events! After watching the weird and wonderful rocky horror, I sat down to watch Shock Treatment. This film proved to be quite unmemorable - it was weird, but certainly not wonderful. A multicoloured film! Advantages: great music and story Disadvantages: none ...ipoints for the DVD of Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat as it is a show that I have seen and loved a couple of times at the theatre and felt sure that my daughters would love it too - which they do! This DVD is really a must for anyone who is a fan of musicals especially those of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. I wasn't sure from the photos on the cover whether this was going to be showing an actual stage version but it's not. In fact ... ...few pieces of scenery. Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat takes us back to biblical times and tells the story of Joseph and his eleven shepherding brothers. Funny Barbara! Advantages: Barbara's amazing voice, very funny! Disadvantages: The sequel not quite as good as the original ...the 1968 Oscar Winning musical Funny Girl. This first film follows Jewish girl Fanny Brice as she strives to become a star. Audiences come to love Fanny as she amazes them with her comic antics and her powerful singing voice. As she becomes a major success in her career, her personal life as it's ups and downs. Fanny falls in love with gambler Nick Arnstein (Omar Sharif). He romances her and they eventually marry, however this film doesn't have a ... ...voice!! The sequel to Funny Girl is the 1975 film 'Funny Lady' (very original title!). The sequel focusses on Fanny's life after Nick Arnstein. Fanny meets Billy Rose (played by James Caan), who is a song writer and Broadway producer. The pair work together and also become lovers. However, unlike the first film, this film focusses too much on her career rather than her personal life.
