High Society Advantages: The characters, the music and the script Disadvantages: None High Society needs to be seen even if its just for the timeless 'what a swell party' scene with the legends that are Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby. It is not often these two greats sing together "we sing so rare." The Godfather Sings! Advantages: Great story and acting, catchy songs with good vocals, family film Disadvantages: None from me Well my film education continues. I think hubby nearly passed out in the shop when I said I had never seen this film and knew nothing about it apart from it being a West end Show! As a result he treated me to it and I have to say considering I did not know what to expect from it I did actually find it very good. When you see a guy reach for stars in the sky... Advantages: Excellent cast, catchy songs, entertaining storyline Disadvantages: No special features on the DVD Guys And Dolls is without a doubt one of my favourite musicals ever made! The film was released back in 1955, directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz, and it’s certainly stood the test of time. The general plot is fairly simple; gambler Nathan Detroit who runs the 'oldest established permanent floating crap game in New York' needs $1000 to bribe Joey Biltmore in order to obtain a location to run the floating crap game. Doris Day heaven! Advantages: Six Doris Day movies - what more can i say?! Disadvantages: It doesn't include Calamity Jane ...is purely for fans of Doris Day! Moulin rouge is a musical admirers dream Advantages: Great chemistry between main characters ,feel good film . Disadvantages: The singing throughout the film can get a bit tiresome In my opinion you must see the film if you like musicals, otherwise you might find the singing a bit off putting .At times the siniging can seem a bit over the top but in general this is what makes the film interesting.It is worth watching just to see the on screen chemistry between Ewan Mcgregor and Nicole Kidman they are a great pairing and seem to have good on screen presence allowing you to follow the romantic tale which is played out .
