Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh Yes! Advantages: It's still good despite being 70 years old, entertaining for children and adults alike Disadvantages: None ...I instead decided to watch the Wizard of Oz, which I was delighted to see was playing on Channel Five. I hadn't seen it since I was a child, but remembered it being an excellent film so was fairly enthusiastic about seeing it again. Since 2009 marks the 70th anniversary of this famous film I thought it would also be interesting to see how well the film had stood the test of time as well as if I still enjoyed it as an adult. The teenage Dorothy lives with her aunt and uncle in a small town in Kansas, with her little dog Toto as her best friend and main company. All is well until her dog bites the leg of evil Elmira Gulch, who threatens to take Toto away, so Dorothy runs away with him. Hey Big Spender! Advantages: Great Film, Big Spender! Disadvantages: Not Very Well Known! Sweet Charity, 1969, Running Time 149 min, Rating PG. The Story: Set in the 60's Charity Valentine is a dancer in a seedy night club, she is desperate to fall in love and leave the club and settle down with a nice man. He's still got it! Advantages: Story Line is great! Disadvantages: Not enough traditional ...it was. This time Michael Flatley decided to take on the irish revolution over in America. The show is all about the revolution bascially. The opening dance danced in the hard show was so compelling fast, and breath taking. This time he has added a variety of styles for example, ballet routines, break dance, tap, with the added bonus of more stylistic with one routine Michael and his troupe are dressed as a mafia gang, and war it out with another ... ...shoes. Again we see Michael fast feet and forceful lead, he also plays his flute again, with the violinists who were the same but we don't need to complain about that. Two new singers accompany him which also do the show justice. The music is irish on the traditional scenes, but very modernised drum based music throughout the rest. Music pictures of Genius Advantages: Everything Imaginable Disadvantages: Nothing ...texts/lyrics which are true poetry. Roger Waters is unique. His talent is unparalleled and his style and compositions will make you shiver as you watch and listen. The concert is structured as a genuine cinematic experience, each song is aided by a video projection on a gigantic screen behind the stage (scenes from 'The WAll', Berlin Concert, original artwork, apocalyptic effects etc). The stage light effects are simple, yet bewildering. The album ... ...excellent. Loads of features, including a documentary of the tour, biographies, interviews, bhind-the-scenes features and so on. This DVD is not just incredibly good, it's simply mo-nu-men-tal. And, as usual, Roger Waters addresses an exclusively intellectual audience per se. Come to the Cabaret! Advantages: Different from other musicals.. and great songs! Disadvantages: Quite dark in some places ...life of working in a cabaret bar and her life outside the cabaret in 1930's Berlin. It also deals with the rise of Nazism in Germany. An English scholar, Brian, comes to Berlin to teach English and moves in to one of the rooms in Sally Bowles' building. The two fall for each other but Sally is unfaithful, and we find out that Brian has also been unfaithful with the same man. Sally reveals that she is pregnant but she doesn't know who the father ... ...matter and he wants the baby no matter what, and says that she should come back to England with him. Sally realises she couldn't lead that kind of life and has an abortion. Then Brian leaves to go back to England and Sally stays Berlin. Great, great, great songs! And Liza Minelli's acting in this is well deserving of her Oscar win of best actress in a leading role.
