Moulin Rouge
Review of Moulin Rouge (Special Edition) (Wide Screen) by natasha.1398

Advantages: Fantastic!
Disadvantages: N/A

When i first watched Moulin Rouge, i found it to be sad, funny and amazing all at the same time. Set in Paris, during the summer of love, it tells the story of a writer who falls in love with a courtesan. However, everything is conspiring against them, and they have to snatch moments together whenever they can, as their love is seen as forbidden. The musical aspect of this film is also very good with fantastic music and lyrics. A film that i would ... Read review

Fun!!!
Review of High School Musical (Encore Edition) by katygriff

Advantages: Fun
Disadvantages: None

...to cheer up? I watched High School Musical of course. Now this is one of the most feel good films that is out there so after it I was singing and dancing around the house with a smile on my face and was in a much better mood. This is why. The story of this film is literally about a High School Musical and how it impacts a group of students at East high School. Troy is the star of the basketball team and wouldn't even dream of telling his team mates ...
...like you expect a American high school to be like as it is absolutely crazy but has your sports people, your brainy people and then your popular and hate everybody else people. From the second it starts it makes you love the film as it is just pure fun. The story plays out very nicely and satisfyingly which is great and it does not lose your attention to the end. As you can probably guess from the title of the film this film is all about music so ... Read review

...worth watching if you like to find out how films were made and more details about them but personally I feel they would spoil the film. I have not tried out the sing along feature on the film as hubby put his foot down but when he is next out for the evening I will definitely be watching it this way and having it on full blast! Saying that I did know the majority of the words to all the songs as they are all so well known. The running time of the ... Read review

An awful young cast propped up by the oldies
Review of Mamma Mia! DVD by dangaroo

Advantages: Some funny parts, lots of Abba hits
Disadvantages: Young actors/actresses were poor

Mamma Mia was a film that had won rave reviews on here when I went to watch it, I've never really been one for musicals as I tend to find them cheesy and bad taste. Mamma Mia was set in a great location amongst Greek islands with emerald seas, rugged cliffs and old run down farmhouses. At the beginning, I thought "god this is awful" as Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) and her equally nauseating friends Ali (Ashley Lilley) and Lisa (Rachel McDowall) burst ...
...by "Honey, Honey". My thoughts on this trio remained the same throughout the film - annoying yanks. Then Rosie (Julie Walters) and Tanya (Christine Baranski) turned up as a pair of indulging biddies, the archetypal hag with a handbag - whilst initially unbelievably cringeworthy, I did find myself warming to at least Rosie over time and they improved as time went on. The most amusing introduction part was undoubtedly meeting the 3 blokes -Sam Carmichael, ... Read review
