Keeping Freddie's memory alive

Advantages: The biggest names in music contribute, money goes to AIDS charities
Disadvantages: A bit boring in places, some questionable performances

...Stadium to pay tribute to Freddie Mercury who died of AIDS on 24th November 1991. It's embarassing to admit, but because I'm only 19 now, a lot of the artists on the video I didn't know when I first bought it, and admittedly some of them now I'm still not that familiar with (although a lot more familiar than other people my age I'd guess) Because it's so long, you're not going to want to watch it all at once, unless you really have nothing else ...
...be pretty amazing to rival Freddie Mercury's vocal range and performance talent. Some tried, some failed, and some just did their own versions of the songs. In my opinion, George Michael gives one of the best performances, he sings "These Are The Days Of Our Lives" with Lisa Stansfield and rocks out "Somebody To Love" perfectly, getting all the audience going, I can only imagine what it'd be like to have seen him perform this live. Elton John sings ...

LIVE AID - DAY THAT ROCKED THE WORLD

Advantages: Great memories of a great day
Disadvantages: None

...date was yes it was Live Aid, I was 16 at the time sadly I didn't get to go there as it was down in London (Wembly Stadium), but I got to watch it all on the Television. It started in London at Midday, USA joined in at Midday their time which was around 5pm our time UK ended at 10pm then USA took us through to around 4am next day what a spectacular show it was. Now at that time Video Recorders were fairly new to the world and our house didn't have ...
...last year when they released Live Aid the DVD. Live Aid was the creation of Bob Geldof and Midge Ure and it came about after they had recorded the original Band Aid song "Do They Know It's Christmas" which was created after Bob and Midge saw a BBC news report about the famine in Africa. Do They Know It's Christmas to this day is still the biggest selling single of all time and featured bands such as Duran Duran, Bananarama, Wham and acts such as ...

Let's dance...

Advantages: Great for any Bowie fan with all the hits
Disadvantages: No special features

...Dolby digital sound. David Bowie first made his name in 1972 with his glam rock style of music and videos, and the way the 70's were going his music was sure to be a big hit. Sure enough his records appealed to the public as it was a mixture of a different kind of music. His song "Oh! You pretty things" was a big hit in 1972 followed by many more including "Queen bitch", "Five years", "Starman", "the Jean Genie", "Space oddity" and many more just ...
...UK over to the US. David continued with his style of Glam rock music until around 1977-78 where his style changed with the rest of the 70's. His style was now more into rock and a mixture of some songs being a mixture of fast and slower paced ones like "Heroes" and "Be my wife" Yet again when the 80's hit he still kept his style of music but he had the opportunity to make different videos for his songs. His first new hit of the 80's was "Ashes ...

ZIGGY STARDUST - The motion picture on DVD.

Advantages: A great selection of sound and vision.
Disadvantages: Not enough.

...encore...briefly we are treated to David in the changing rooms wearing his red underpants. THE ENCORE includes WhiteLight/WhiteHeat by Lou Reed from the Velvet Undergrounds plastic exploding inevitable; it's more coherent than the original. Bowie's farewell speech (this is the last tour with the spiders) the stage shows ends with Rock N Roll Suicide. The END CREDITS of the film play out to Pomp & Circumstance. ***MY OPINION*** When I first bought ...
...they are virtually giving DVD machines away. At 1st 90 minutes might seem a lot but the medium allows you to quickly select tracks, tunes, sections you want. The package would make a nice present although a reduced price would be better I think. The box set has not held its value when compared to its trade price on Ebay today. Some live film of Bowie from this era is a must for any fan. I remember the music at the concert at Romford Odeon was much ...

Reality Rocks

Advantages: Live entertainment at its best. This really rocks
Disadvantages: Leaves you wanting more; lack of Bonus Features

...one of the concerts from David Bowie's Reality Tour , in Dublin, in November 2003. It contains 30 songs spanning his entire career not just focusing on his recent album 'Reality'. There are some of his more well known songs such as 'Ziggy' and 'The Man who Sold the World' but also the more obscure such as 'The Motel' and 'Hallo Spaceboy'. Sure there are 'Best of' Bowie DVDs out there featuring Bowie's videos, so why buy this one? Well, the answer ...
...love of his art. The enthusiasm of the crowd is fantastic and Bowie with his band produces a sound which is charismatic and brilliant. So, what are the songs? (Album in brackets) Rebel, Rebel (Diamond Dogs) New Killer Star (New Killer Star) Reality (Reality) Fame (Young Americans) Cactus (Heathen) Sister Midnight (written with Iggy Pop and Carlos Alomar) Afraid (Heathen) All the Young Dudes Be My Wife (Low) The Loneliest Guy (Reality) ...
