Should have left it on the shelf!
Advantages: erm.......... good songs Disadvantages: Weak plot and script, wooden acting
...any of them get the fame they so desperately want?
Well the plot may sound a little basic but this is really all there is to the film. I did find there was a little about the student outside of school but it was mainly centred around the School and their school work. For me I was expecting a lot but was sadly disappointed. I know the film was made back in 1980 but for me it just looked very cheap and as if they had no interest in making a good script ... ...and Maureen Teefy

Fame Field Trip visit’s the school that inspired the movie
Trailer
I have watched any of these so I am not able to make comment on the, The running time of the film is 128 minutes and I personally found this was very long and at times I was very bored. The certificate is a 15 and I do agree with this as there is a lot of strong language and moderate nudity. I paid just £3 for this DVD over 2 years ...

Porcupine Tree's first official live DVD impresses
Advantages: Excellent setlist, and a great introduction to the band for a newcomer. Disadvantages: the 'art-house' production may be off-putting to some.
...DVD from British rock group Porcupine Tree was filmed in 2006 at Park West, Chicago, during the Deadwing tour. The setlist is strong, predominantly featuring songs from Deadwing and their previous album In Absentia, but also from a little further back, for instance Hatesong (a standout track, showcasing drummer Gavin Harrison) and the acoustic, lesser-known and hauntingly atmospheric 'Buying New Soul'. The film has a very 'art-house' feel, with sometimes ... ...everyone's taste, but in my opinion it adds to the atmosphere of the concert footage. Frontman Steven Wilson is a charismatic presence throughout, and the performance is backed by several films by their frequent artist-collaborator Lasse Hoile. Tracklist: 1. Revenant 2. Open Car 3. Blackest Eyes 4. Lazarus 5. Hatesong 6. Don't Hate Me 7. Mother And Child Divided 8. Buying New Soul 9. So Called Friend 10. Arriving Somewhere But Not Here 11. Heartattack ...

The Godfather Sings!
Advantages: Great story and acting, catchy songs with good vocals, family film Disadvantages: None from me
Well my film education continues. I think hubby nearly passed out in the shop when I said I had never seen this film and knew nothing about it apart from it being a West end Show! As a result he treated me to it and I have to say considering I did not know what to expect from it I did actually find it very good. The film is set in the 1950’s with Nathan Detroit being a gambling man who is desperately trying to find a venue to host his massive Craps ... ...Gambler comes to town by the name of Sky Masterson who Nathan thinks will be able to help him with his venue problem. Nathan sets Sky up for a $1000 bet that he cannot convince Missionary worker Sarah Brown to go away with him.
Nathan thinks he has won the money as Sky has no chance of getting her too agree so he will be able to pay for the venue for his game but things take a turn for the worse for Nathan when his love suffering fiancé finds out ...

Not Just For Abba Fans
Advantages: Great performances, great fun, the songs (If you like Abba) Disadvantages: Younger cast are a bit flat
...Christmas, my mum asked for Mamma Mia! on DVD because my dad wouldn't let her rent it. Come Christmas day and after eating copiously and drinking similarly we sat down (dad excluded) to watch (mercifully not the sing-a-long version). I was apprehensive. I'm not good with musicals and I'm definitely not good with Abba. Begrudgingly I joined in willing my loathing along. From minute one I thought, 'this is horrid', but by the end I was toe tapping ... ...on what makes this film so enjoyable but somehow it is, and somehow I'll try. So, the story. Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) is due to get married on a Greek island but prior to exchanging her vowls she wishes to find out the identity of her father. She secretly invites the three potentials (Colin Firth, Pierce Brosnan and Stellan Skarsgård) to the wedding without letting her mother (Meryl Streep) know. What ensues is her quest to find out his identity, ...
