Thank you for the music, Mamma Mia! triumphs

Advantages: Great music, vivid scenary, great setting
Disadvantages: Storyline could have been improved on.

As members of the british public will know, the musical is a genre that has died out over the last few years. Yes, we've had high school musical and that was good for the kids. But what about us adults? Anything since saturday night fever worth watching? That debate is for another time, but this film brings back the musical genre, in full Abba style. From start to finish this film does not disappoint with the fantastic toe-tapping, karaoke dream ...
...focus of attention sometimes, fits lovely into the songs. Anyone who has seen the stage show, will have walked away playing all the songs over and over in their head and be humming them all the way home. The film does exactly the same. From the opening of I have a dream, to Thank you for the music running over the credits, you almost feel like you have been watching an abba concert, your voice is sore. Even if you are not an abba fan, or generally ...

Joseph DVD is entertaining but you need to be a real "Joseph" fan

Advantages: Great songs and a well known storyline.
Disadvantages: Poor sets which made me feel I was watching a school play.

This version of Joseph is fantastic...if you're a Donny Osmond fan. Which is why I watched it in the first place. Otherwise I think it's a disappointing version of an excellent Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice masterpiece. The storyline sticks to the original well known story, with a host of wellknown songs, which in my opinion are well orchestrated and sung by the cast. The sets are cheap and flimsy, and although this is intentional, it didn't add ...
...parts I didn't find terribly funny, although the Pharoah did have me chuckling! The cast fit the parts well, and there isn't a bad performance amongst them, but although I adore Donny, I didn't think he was great in ths role. I think that the songs save this from being a dire tragedy. Having seen the show in local theatres and the West End, I guess this was always going to be a disappointment for me. The music definitely saved this film from being ...

Should have left it on the shelf!

Advantages: erm.......... good songs
Disadvantages: Weak plot and script, wooden acting

...any of them get the fame they so desperately want? Well the plot may sound a little basic but this is really all there is to the film. I did find there was a little about the student outside of school but it was mainly centred around the School and their school work. For me I was expecting a lot but was sadly disappointed. I know the film was made back in 1980 but for me it just looked very cheap and as if they had no interest in making a good script ...
...and Maureen Teefy Making of Fame Featurettes Fame Field Trip visit’s the school that inspired the movie Trailer I have watched any of these so I am not able to make comment on the, The running time of the film is 128 minutes and I personally found this was very long and at times I was very bored. The certificate is a 15 and I do agree with this as there is a lot of strong language and moderate nudity. I paid just £3 for this DVD over 2 years ...

Porcupine Tree's first official live DVD impresses

Advantages: Excellent setlist, and a great introduction to the band for a newcomer.
Disadvantages: the 'art-house' production may be off-putting to some.

...DVD from British rock group Porcupine Tree was filmed in 2006 at Park West, Chicago, during the Deadwing tour. The setlist is strong, predominantly featuring songs from Deadwing and their previous album In Absentia, but also from a little further back, for instance Hatesong (a standout track, showcasing drummer Gavin Harrison) and the acoustic, lesser-known and hauntingly atmospheric 'Buying New Soul'. The film has a very 'art-house' feel, with sometimes ...
...everyone's taste, but in my opinion it adds to the atmosphere of the concert footage. Frontman Steven Wilson is a charismatic presence throughout, and the performance is backed by several films by their frequent artist-collaborator Lasse Hoile. Tracklist: 1. Revenant 2. Open Car 3. Blackest Eyes 4. Lazarus 5. Hatesong 6. Don't Hate Me 7. Mother And Child Divided 8. Buying New Soul 9. So Called Friend 10. Arriving Somewhere But Not Here 11. Heartattack ...
