Just a spoonful of sugar Advantages: great story, good for the whole family, fun soundtrack Disadvantages: none Mary Poppins is one of the films of my childhood, so I was really pleased to receive it on DVD as a gift. It's a film that hasn't lost any of it's magic with age and one that I can happily watch time and time again. Set in Cherry Tree Lane, the Mr Banks is looking for a nanny for his children, Jane and Michael. The children have a wish list for the qualities they would want in a nanny, which Mr Banks disposes of, only for Mary Poppins to find and ... ...least with exactly what and how much she can fit in her bag!) and teaches them numerous valuable lessons. They grow to love and respect her and she grows to love them too. There are great sing along classics in this film. It's Loverley Advantages: A great musical for the family Disadvantages: Eliza's screech!!!!!!!!! My Fair Lady is a musical that I really love to watch. It was produced in 1964 and stars Audrey Hepburn in the lead role of Eliza Doolittle but is still an enjoyable watch today. My Fair Lady is quite simply a rags to riches story whereby Eliza Doolittle, a cockney flower girl, is spotted by the supremely assured phoneticist Henry Higgins. The reason behind his noticing of her is her somewhat coarse cockney accent, which does raise quite a few laughs ... ...adds a certain something but my favourite songs simply have to be "Why can't the English?" and "Wouldn't it be Loverly", which are performed right at the beginning of the film. My reasoning for this is that these two musical performances showcase the differences between the speech of the two lead characters in a humorous and quite frankly brilliant way. My Fair Lady Advantages: Great Music and story Disadvantages: none This is a must see musical. The story is about a flower girl learning how to be a top of society lady. The actors are brilliant and creating believable characters that relate to the audience. The film contains a lot of humour that is bound to get anybody laughing. The sound track is clear and contains familiar memorable songs such as ' wouldn't it be lovely' and ' I'm getting married in the morning'. Great Film for any Day's Night Advantages: Great music, fun comedy that is appropriate for everyone Disadvantages: Black and white and not much plot but nothing is taken away from the film ...music since they had such a massive impact on music and though they were not too experimental in their early days and would be considers the equivalent of chart music today it is hard not to tap or sing along to the catchy, feel-good love songs that they were so popular for. The film A Hard Day's Night brought the Beatles to American audiences and boosted the popularity even further. There is a small plot where Paul's grandfather comes to visit and he must look after him and in a most predictable manner they lose him and get caught in may silly situations.
