This is simply one of the best films in the world, and I know I've already said that about my other DVD ops, but this one is too!
Obviously it's a sequel to the Mummy, and this is the 2 disc special edition DVD (Widescreen). Technical stuff is: 12 Rating 124 mins approx Directed by Stephen Sommers
Starring: Brendan Fraser (The Mummy, Bedazzled) Rachel Weisz (The Mummy!) John Hannah Arnold Vosloo - Imhotep The Rock, as the Scorpion King Patricia Velasquez - as Anck-su-Namun
Plot: This film starts with Evie (Weisz) and Rick (Fraser) in a tomb, digging about as usual. It unfolds that they have a son and that they are now married, it has been set 10 years after the first Mummy was. Evie (who is a lot tougher and less wussy in this film) finds the Bracelet of Anubis, a supposedly mythological artifact. As Rick and Evie look at this bracelet, 3 sinisterish looking men come in looking for them, they're actually quite amusing though. They obviously mean to do harm to the O'Connells and catch Evie's and Rick's son Alex, but obviously this doesn't happen or else there would be no film.
Elsewhere, Imhotep has been found, by Anck-su-Namun reincarnated (but only in body) and once again raised from the dead.
The O'Connells reach their home in London, Alex puts the bracelet on, and you've guessed it, he only has 7 days before the Scorpion King rises up and kills the world! Anyway, there is a scuffle in the house between the goodies and the baddies as it were, and Evie is kidnapped. And then they get Evie back, Alex is kidnapped. I won't tell you anymore because then it starts to unfold properly and I don't want to ruin it for you!
I may be biased, but I thought that the story in this film was very clever and complex. The performances given by the characters was excellent, although Rachel Weisz wasn't always entirely believable as Evie.
The special effects really are excellent in it though, mummies running around everywhere, walls of water, they are spectacular.
The soundtrack is very apt to the film, with heavy chords and minor melodies carrying throughout it.
I may get lynched for this, but my opinion is that it was better than the first in many, many ways. It's the type of film I could watch over and over, and never get tired of it. A totally enjoyable masterpiece.
It is definitely worth seeing it, although I admit that it's not the type of film everyone's into. It's not even the usual type of film I go for, but it's gripping after the first five minutes!
I bought it the day it came out on DVD for twenty quid, and I've seen it about 20 times, so it's paying for itself! All I can say is, give it a go, you may find it's worth it.
Very Good op - your enthusiasm for the film shines through, and I agree with you that it was a very good film! (Not sure if I preferred the first one though! Will have to watch them again)

Have this one myself. Don't rave over it quite as much as you, but never the less a good op
