The new cartoon format of 'Mr Bean' is all in all a complete let down. I got very excited when I heard that a cartoon mr bean was coming out. I had expected it to be along the lines of the classic comedy sitcom sketches by Rowan Atkinson, but it's nothing like it one bit. The modern artwork tries to make Mr Bean look appealing to the younger generation and completely destroys his unique clumsy geek image.

The DVD consists of one disc and features eight animated episodes each lasting about 15 minutes including: 1. Camping (mr bean decides to go camping for a holiday treat, however as usual with mr bean, things go wrong. He makes a security guard angry, he tent colapses and ends up creating more trouble by trying to fix everything and geting even with the secuirty guard).

2. Chocks Away -in this episode Mr Bean takes to building a model aeroplane, why?, well it's only because he saw some boys in the park with their planes and Bean being Bean thinks he can do better. A very basic and boring episode, again filled with slapstick comedy and portrays Mr Bean as very childish.

3. Royal Bean - He manages breaks his favourite drinking cup. It's a tea mug with a picture of the Queen`s face on it. So he decides to get another one and visits london city only to find trouble and ends up being cased into buckingham palace where he meets her majesty herself. An okay episode if your a child, nothing side splitingly funny though.

4. Young Bean- set in a daydreamy format Mr Bean is sorting out Mrs Wickets jumble in her loft and he remembers being a child. Another episode that was painful to sit through, no real original comedy.

5. In the Pink - This animated episode sees Mr Bean adopting a strange lost pink animal as a pet. His adventure is led by his curiouity to find out what this weird pink animal is and where it came from.

6. Dinner for Two- Irma Gobb (Yes they decided to give cartoon Mr Bean a romantic interest) is coming for dinner. As with most things Mr Bean is not prepared and has a hassle trying to clean, cook and make teddy behave in time for her visit.

7. The Ball- Disaster strikes when a yellow tennis ball becomes stuck in a drain pipe on his roof top. Bean's task in this episode is to retrieve it, but there are so many methods, which will succeed?

8. Toothache - Based around the dentist this episode starts when Mr Bean bites down on a piece of popcorn and causes severe tooth pains. He thinks that by pulling out his painful tooth, it will resolve his problems but finally comes to hihs senses and seeks help.

Overall I'm awarding a 3 star rating, dispite it appearing they've actually put some effort into the DVD e.g. by addiing bonus trailers, interviews and clips it still doesn't detract from the point that it's not a good series and is really aimed at little children. I'm still surprised Rowan let this go ahead, although Mr Bean wasn't his creation, it is his image and the new t.v. series ruins what was a classic masterpiece 'Mr Bean'.
Thanks for reading & best wishes, mintz x x x

A good review, again still not a fan of Mr Bean in any form though. Ellie.

Well reviewed. Not got it quite right, have they, from your description. I seem to recall that in the Christmas Mr Bean, Mr Bean had some romantic interest, his girlfriend was at his place for Christmas dinner.
