This Doug Liman film, Mr and Mrs Smith, received a lot of press on its release in 2005, thanks to the close relationship between the two lead stars, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
Mr and Mrs Smith is about a married couple, John (Brad Pitt) and Jane (Angelina Jolie), who are dissatisfied with their unexciting marriage and are attending marriage counselling. However they are both trained assassins, which they keep secret from each other. Things get complicated when their are both given the same target, Benjamin Danz (Adam Brody), to kill and end up failing to kill the target in the confusion. Their respective employers decide that they should take the other out as payback for the botched job. What follows is a battle of wills as the couple enter a deadly battle as they try to eliminate the other and in the process learn more about the other.
This is an interesting film that is action-packed and has some amazing fight scenes, but I felt let down by the script, which was a bit weak. The action scenes are well directed and will delight action fans. Brad Pitt and Jane Angelina Jolie are good in the lead roles using a little tongue in cheek humour and are sexy actors for men and women to lust after. I thought Vince Vaughn was entertaining in a supporting role and one of the better characters. This is a prefect film if you want to use your brain, as it is mindless fun.
