** The Movie: **
They meet, they fall in love and they get married. And whilst that could be said about Brad and Angelina in real life (almost), it is also what we see at the beginning of this movie. Brad Pitt is John Smith and Angelina is his wife Jane. Jane believes that John is an Engineer and John believes that Jane is in IT, and 5 or 6 years later (depending who you ask) the initial magic has gone and they are both going through the motions ... ...behind the boredom is that both of them are living a lie. John is not an Engineer and Jane is not in IT, they are both working as assassins for different organisations and stay within the marriage as a matter of convenience so they can each go and do their jobs and still be home in time for dinner at 7.
Then they both get given the same hit job, which reveals to each other their true identities and then the movie takes on a new twist, they have ...

Advantages: Thoroughly enjoyable Disadvantages: Not meaningful, condones violence
I expect there will be a few reviews coming out on this one now as it has been shown on T.V. tonight, so as always, I shall jump on that bandwagon! Story
The story is really quite straight-forward. Marital problems have arisen for the charming young couple, John & Jane Smith (Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie), who, after the first 5 or 6 years of marriage - they are not so sure how long - they decide to take a 'marriage MOT' - well actually, they seek ... ...realise things have changed a great deal. They seem quite distant from one another, are keeping secrets from one another, including an unusually similar secret in fact. Each works for an agency as an assassin, a fact which the other is completely unaware of, until one day their missions seem to coincide & conflict, causing them both to want to kill the person that messed up their job, not realising straight away that that person is their partner. ...

Advantages: Fairly diverting, pretty good performances from Pitt and Jolie, some good special effects and visuals Disadvantages: Rather laughable and predictable as the story goes on
...- The Story -
Mr and Mrs Smith, as if you didn't know, stars Brad Pitt as John Smith and Angelina Jolie as Jane Smith. The movie starts out with them at a marriage counselling session, being asked about their relationship. All seems normal but of course they each have their own rather large secret that their keeping from each other and they talk about how they feel that they don't talk about things very much, there's a kind of a funny line at one ... ...call it when you don't talk about things anymore?' 'Marriage.'
Anyway John is asked about when he first met Jane and we're shown their first encounter some 5 (or, as Jane insists, 6) years ago, in Bogota in Columbia. The chemistry shown here is pretty strong and of course that continues right through the whole movie. I'd imagine alot of people went to see or buy this movie due to the off the set gossip/talk of the two actors real life relationship, ...

Advantages: Action packed, funny, on-screen chemistry between stars Disadvantages: Lacks deep plot lines, some violence
This is the film that sparked off all those rumours about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, were they an item were they not. The film was destined to be a hit at the box office as not only did it have two big selling stars but the press coverage it received due to the questions over their relationship helped it get even more publicity.
I missed it at the cinema but rented the DVD through Amazon rentals at the weekend so here is my first ever film review.
... ...and Jane Smith (Brad and Angelina) talking to a marriage counsellor as their marriage is going through a difficult time, after 5 years they are starting to grow apart and feel they have lost the excitement in their marriage and feel they are growing apart. We then discover later in the film that in fact they have a lot of excitement in their lives as unknown to the other they are both living secret lives. We discover that both of them are assassins ...

Advantages: Full of everything, Comedy, Action, Romance Disadvantages: Not to everyones tastes
...a mixed reception. Mr and Mrs Smith tells the story of two contract killers that cross paths and fall in love whilst on a Case, only to discover after five years of their marriage that they are both in the same business. Contracted to kill each other they must battle to safe both their lives and their marriage. I don't quite know how to characterise this film, it is a romantic action comedy if i can put it that way. Three quite different genres but ... ...As the film begins you are met by the typical actionhero, secret agent sort of feel where both Angelina and Brad are working on a contract only to cross paths. Both characters i believe are doing what they do best. Brad Pitt Showed in films like Oceans Eleven and Twelve that he could play the intelligent, swarve character that he has master once again in this film (although quite comically aswell in some parts). Angelina, in my opinion, was at her ...

Advantages: Great action, sporadically funny Disadvantages: Weak plot, it's all very silly
...I went to see Mr and MrsSmith when it first came out, and I loved it. That's why I decided to watch it again on DVD recently, to see if it would stand the test of time.
The fairly silly plot goes as follows: two top spies, John and Jane Smith (Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie) are married, but they don't know what the other does for a living! So, when they are both assigned to take out the same target (who is played by Adam Brody from The OC), they get in each other's way, and their respective agencies assign them the task of wiping each other out. So you can imagine the surprise when they watch the footage and work out just who the other spy is! But it's OK, their marriage wasn't working out, so they feel happy to try their best to murder each other, leading to all manner of hilarious, action-packed showdowns.
Although the plot...

Advantages: Stunt filled action extravaganza Disadvantages: Not much detail on anything else
..., acting and plot would say 'na wait until it comes out on DVD' but the stunts. Action et al say 'You gotta see it on the big screen!'
I guess when push comes to shove if you like unbelievable action films then you will like this, even if it is just for the stunts, some of which are so spectacular that the small screen will diminish their beauty!
If you liked the first one then you would most likely get a lot of enjoyment out of this one, I actually think this is a marginally better film due to the actual plot, or if you like the James Bond movies, especially the Brosnan ones, you should see it. Unsurprisingly the director also directed the last James Bond film as well! Otherwise maybe it is one to save for the living room couch and your own DVD player!

DVD Description
Named after a 1941 Alfred Hitchcock film, MR. AND MRS. SMITH is really its own ball of flaming wax, with enough sizzling chemistry between stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt to blow up a small building. He shows he is equally adept in comedy and action, and she manages to set new screen standards of bad-ass sexiness. It's impossible to dislike this pair, or a movie that makes being married seem like such insane fun. Pitt and Jolie play extremely skilled professional assassins who have managed to stay married for five years without ever realising each other's profession because they work for rival agencies and the work is top secret. When their paths eventually cross on a high-level hit, one of the most lethal battles of the sexes in the history of cinema is officially on. Thanks to a genuinely witty script, the issue isn't who will win, but whether the couple will realise they are meant for each other before it's too late. Director Doug Liman was obviously the right choice for the material, having proved his ability to fuse engaging romance with knuckle-biting action in 2002's THE BOURNE IDENTITY. The comedy is sophisticated and witty, the action is visceral and intense, and there is plenty of satisfying eye candy. Another plus is Vince Vaughn as a fast-talking fellow hit man who lives with his mother. The cinematography is by Bozan Bajelli (the genius behind Abel Ferrara's best mid-1980s work) who imbues each environment, whether it's the Smith's house, or the urban streets - with its own evocative colour scheme and feel.
