If you were expecting a boring stereotypical musical from Baz Lurhmann, I'm afraid you will be sadly disappointed. But on the other hand if you are expecting a fast moving, blink and you'll miss-it, Lurhmann classic. Then this is your film.
Christian (Ewan Mcgregor) is a penny less writer who falls in love with a can-can dancer, Satine (Nicole Kidman), at the famous Moulin Rouge club in Paris. But as always all is not easy in love and war, disaster strikes, she is betrothed to someone else.
Baz Lurhmann uses his links with theatre and opera to create a modern day musical with medleys of songs such as Your Song, I Will Always Love You, All You Need Is Love. And a side splitting version of Madonna's Like A Virgin.
A very funny, fast moving story. A story of obsession. Not though Christians obsession for Satine, but his obsession to "love and be loved in return".
This film will have you singing and dancing all the way home.
A film that certianly can not be missed.
