Moulin Rouge has to be one of the most mad, yet funniest films I've seen since Rocky Horror. Right from the beginning, it's strange, with a little man sitting on a roof in Paris singing about a penniless writer, called Christian (Ewan McGregor)
The Start _______
The film starts by Christian writing a novel about the Moulin Rouge. At this point you learn that Satine (Nicole Kidman) dies, and it flashes back to one year ago (1899) where Christian is discovered by Tolouse Latrek and helps them in their play. They want to perform for Satine 'cos she has connections to the acting community (she's a famous, loved courtesan (high class prostitute)) but she mistakes the situation and it ends with her falling in love with Christian (in about two minutes) and they go and dance on the clouds and swing around the eiffel tower, singing songs from the 90s.
The main plot _____________
Satine is meant to be marrying a very rich Duke. He owns the deeds to the Moulin Rouge in return for him funding a play about a beutiful woman in India who is meant to marry the evil leader, but she's really in love with the penniless sita player. Satine and Christian try to hide their relationship but they fall madly in love.
The Twist _______
Not telling- apart from the fact that Satine dies- or does she? Ahhhh....
What I liked _____________
I thought this film was amazingly funny, even though everyone else in the cinema (excluding my friends) were't laughing in the slightest. We were pissing ourselves!
There was a singing moon, and they did rendictions of Lady Marmalade by Pink, Mya, Lil Kim and Christina Aguierla, Smells like teen spirit by Nirvana, Diamonds are a girl's best friend (don't know who by), Material girl and like a virign by Madonna, All you need is love by the Beetles, Everything I do (I do it for you) by Bryan Adams, The hills are alive with the sound of music from The Sound of Music and some song that goes "It's a wonderful life, now you're in this world" (If anyone knows this song, please e-mail me 'cos it's killing me)
You have to see it.

Advantages: A vocal love story between two brilliant actors/singers! Disadvantages: If you aren't wearing waterproof mascara you'll look like a panda by the end of it ladies!
Advantages: Huge musical comedy, with interpretations of Ewan best McGregor and Nicole Kidman Disadvantages: The principle is a little crazy and amazing, I did not like
