Advantages: Characters Disadvantages: Tupac has a bad rep
Tupac Shakur's life supposedly ended in September of 1996 and fans have been investigating the evidence ever since. The people are divided in debating whether or not the rapper/actor is still alive: some are willing to accept the current facts that the star is no longer with us, while others are so intrigued by the references to today's culture in his music that they have no definite answer as to where he is.
The one thing that I'm sure they will all agree on, however, is that he was never really given the chance to develop his promising talents as an actor.
Gang Related is Tupac's last ever film (but don't quote me on that just yet). Although his performance as the crooked cop with a conscience here is nothing particularly explosive, it is enough to make you realise that he had [/has] a lot of potential as an actor, and the opportunity ...
Advantages: A capable sports-cum-ispirational teacher movie. Disadvantages: A lack of originality.
Sean Porter is a juvenile probation officer, working at a Californian detention camp. He is frustrated at the lack of progress the detainees make when released into the outside world. Most of them end up back in the prison system or dead from gang-related violence. He?s determined to make a difference, so sets up an American football team at the camp where they can learn respect, responsibility, cooperation and discipline. But with only four weeks before the start of the season they have a lot of work to do to build a convincing team. And they have to learn to stop fighting each other and work together if they?re to stand a chance of winning.
Though the film may be set in a juvenile detention camp, it?s an inspirational teacher story masquerading as a sports movie. Director Phil Joanou is aware of this and sticks to the established ...
Advantages: It will inspire you to join a team of some kind Disadvantages: Crude and violent in parts
This is a gritty and inspiring film that shocks and thrills the viewer throughout. It starts with a young male getting released from Sean Porter's detention camp just after he has a fight with a opposing gang member. On the night before he is released Porter (Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson) speaks to the boy telling him to get away from gang life or he will go back to jail or be killed. On his release he is about to attack opposing gang members when he and the later main characters are shot at by a car. He is subsequently killed and his friend wants revenge going to an opposing gang's work place with the intention to kill the opposing gang member.
The film now follows this young mans life. He doesn't kill the opposing gang member but when returning home to see his mother has been attacked by his father he shoots his father in self defence ...
