This DVD contains four episodes from the series, Kombat Begins Again, The Swords of Ilkan, Familiar Red and Abandoned. Note that these episodes are not in the order that they were aired. Note that the second episode, Sting of the Scorpion, is not contained in either volume 1,2 or 3.
The quality of animation is decent for its time, and the storyline is quite interesting, for MK fans at least. Rayden is the Thunder God who has plenty to say about the efforts of the human warriors, but ofcourse never really does anything himself seeing that he is immortal. The rest of the Mortal Kombat cast all make an appearance over the 3 volumes, as the battle for the Earthrealm commences. The good guys here are Sub Zero, Nightwolf, Liu Kang, Rayden, Sonya, Jax, Kabal, Kitana. Over the course of their journey they meet up with old foes such as Kano, Scorpion, Reptile, Shang Tsung, Motaro, and Shao Kahn. We even see the appearance of Smoke in cyborg form, with Sub Zero trying to convince the cyber ninja that his soul stills exists deep within his metallic body. As an MK fan, I like it, but just an animation, I think its quite good, with an interesting storyline, and is fun viewing.
Each episode lasts for approximately 30 minutes. This is a Fox Kids animation, distributed on DVD by Film Roman.
