...Morecambe and Wise are, arguably, the greatest comedy double act of all time. The humour seems so innocent when you look back on it-but without a doubt I?d rate this humour over much of the humour today. It?s much more likely that I would switch on a Morecambe and Wise video and laugh my head off at Cliff Richard, Eric and Ernie dancing around like American soldiers on a battleship, than turn on Ali. G and laugh at him slipping on a banana skin. I consider it to be time to welcome shows like Morecambe and Wise, Only Fools and Horses and The Good Life back to BBC primetime.
Before their BBC show, they started their careers in the variety theatres where they became extremely popular. They moved to radio where they also drew large audiences and then they were given a TV show called ?Running Wild? which was a disaster. Reviews given...

...Ok - A little different, I know... but I am going to tell you the positives about Morecambe. It appear to have had quite a bit of negative wrote about it on here and I just thought I'd tell the other side.
Why do I like morecambe?
Easy really - the view across Morecambe bay is like no other - across the magnificent sweep of Morecambe Bay to the Lakeland Fells - Spectacular.

Walk across Morecambe promenade and you find award-winning public art, golden sandy beaches and the long-awaited restoration of our world-famous Midland Hotel (due to be completed in June 2008).
There is plenty to do and see there, I am going to describe some of my favourite places:

...than any sitcom or sketch show - its the silly Morecambe and Wise style that they can get away with and we've seen nothing like it for years.
Cat Deeley started out on MTV and in her few thirty second in-between-the-videos slots proved she can be wacky and madcap there. She translates well to the proper telly and the three look like they are really having a laugh as they entertain.
And as for the kids? Well they love it! Okay so there is the nasty Pokemon cartoon inthe middle, and the imported US teen drama such as Sabrina and Clueless are universally terrible, but its the bits such as Challenge Ant, Wonkey Donkey (It's Got To Ryhme!) and Splatoon! that are just really really good fun.
Why does nobody cotton on that something like this aimed at a late teen audience on a friday night would go down a storm? Proper entertainment, a bit...
