Advantages: Funny, romantic, and beautiful to the eye. Disadvantages: Might inspire you to splash about in a fountain, break into song, or otherwise behave like a lovestruck mooncalf.
Does new love always make us look as foolish as we may be feeling on the inside? Can the moon really influence us, especially when we fall in love? Perhaps…Both of these concepts have certainly come up before when romance and love are the topics. Lovers meet by the light of the moon, George Bailey offered to lasso the moon as a present for his love in It's a Wonderful Life, and all the antics of a Midsummer Night's Dream occur beneath the impassive ... ...with love are often inspired to heroic actions as well as irrational ones, and the Moon has figured well in the affairs of love quite probably since it first appeared in our skies. Loretta Castorini (Cher) threw caution to the wind once, defied family, flouted tradition, and ran off to marry for love in a courtroom rather than a church. Rather unfortunate that her foolish swain was taken out by a speeding bus, leaving Loretta a disillusioned widow ...

Advantages: Cher at her best Disadvantages: Out dated a little
After all this time I thought it best to write a review of some sort, so here I am. I was only 2 years old when this first came out, but I love Cher and this is one of her best movies!
A romantic farce set in New Yorks Little Italy, but totally free of the mafia, and criss crossing several couples who all seem to be effected by a huge full moon. A young widow, (Cher), accepts a proposal, but falls for her fiance's estranged brother, the loving couple ... ...his wife finds herself dinning with a man who has just been jilted by his young student, just as he was before in an incident witnessed by the young widow......
Atlthough director Norman Jewison and the films music rather overdo the amore and Italian openess. Still, there are winning performances from Cher, (Oscar winner), Nicholas cage, as the hairy ape who sweeps her off her feet, and Olympia Dukakis and Vincent Garcia as her parents.
A little ...

Advantages: Wonderfully uplifting film Disadvantages: makes you wish your life was like that!
I love this film. I remember seeing this when I was 14 at my local cinema and me and my friend dancing around in our long woollen coats (like Cher does) all the way home.... those were the days!
Winner of three Academy Awards in 1987 for Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress and Best Original Screenplay; it is definitely worth watching. A love story of operatic proportions. Plot:
Cher is the plain looking widow, Loretta Castorini. She accepts a ... ...20 years, Mr. Johnny Cammareri. The story would (maybe) end in their marriage if Johnny hadn’t asked Loretta to do one little thing for him before he flew off to Sicily to be at his dying mothers’ bedside. She just has to invite someone to their wedding. His brother Ronny, whom he hadn’t spoken to for 5 years because of “bad blood”.
Whilst Johnny is safely re-attaching himself to his mothers’ apron strings, Loretta ...

Advantages: puts you in a romantic mood Disadvantages: not long enough
When ever I watch this film it always puts me in a good mood. It certainly opened my eyes to both cher and nicholas cage acting abilities and you sort of wish life was actual like that, romance wise. Just goes to show everybody out there actual has a chance of finding someone no matter how much you hate yourself . doesn't always mean thats how everybody else sees you. and if you did'nt think a full moon was romantic you will change your mind after ... ...this is more for the girls than you boys. and if you do buy this film then a box of tissues will also be required and dim lights to get into the atmosphere. okay okay so I wasn't very plot reveiling well this is a woman meets man, man loves woman, woman meets mans brother and falls in love, but still feels should marry man, but in the end everything turns out right, even the oldies in the film have a kiss and cuddle under the moon. ...

In this glowingly atmospheric comedy, a young Italian-American woman, bitter after having been widowed by a speeding bus, makes a practical decision to marry a longtime friend for stability and security, even though her feelings for him are tepid at best. But when she falls in love with her fiance's estranged one-handed younger brother, screwball sparks fly. Great, subtle performances and a warm regard for the film's Bronx milieu highlight the film. Academy Award Nominations: 6, including Best Picture, Best Director. Academy Awards: 3, including Best Actress--Cher, Best Supporting Actress--Olympia Dukakis, and Best Original Screenplay.
