WARNING!!!! DONT READ THIS IF YOU DONT WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS IN THE FILM!!!!! WARNING!!!
Who is in this film??
There are 3 main parts in the film who i will go in to in most detail.
1 -Kevin played by Michael Vartan. I really liked this guy and he was quite sexy too. I havent actually seen him in any films or sitcoms so it was a fresh face for me. Kevin plays a doctor who on his return home bumps in to "charly" who he then moves into his house and takes to meet his mother in a matter of months before preposing to her.
2 - Viola played by Jane Fonda. She was great in this film although i havent actually seen her in any other films i always got the impression that she did quite serious films....so i guess Monster-In-Law being a comedy was quite a change for her. Viola is a well known TV personality with friends in high places who finds herself getting the sack from her job because they want someone young....she has a Phycotic breakdown which was so funny to watch!
3 - Charly played by Jennifer Lopez. I absolutly love Jennifer Lopez as an actress and she was amazing in this film. She played a normal girl who had little money and lots of jobs including a dog walker, waitress, artist and reception at the local doctors surgery. She and Kevin get engaged and she takes hell from her mother in law.
Ok now that I have introduced the characters I will try and give you a little bit about the film.
As I have already said kevin and charly met move in together and go to meet kevins mother. To kevins suprise his mother and girlfriend are getting on great and just in the middle of everything he pops the question. Charly says yes and Viola is about to have another nervous breakdown turning to drink as she thinks Kevin is to good for this "temp" he is a docor and could do much better. Viola does everything that she can to try and stop the wedding moving in with them and tormenting Charly when Kevin is away on work. Taking over all the wedding plans, but with the help of her friends Charly gets her revenge. Anway in the end when one of Violas ex mother in laws turns up just before the wedding and Charly sees how badly they treat each other 30 years down the line she decides to call of the wedding she has had enough. But Viola has a change of heart they make up and live happily ever after.
This film has some really funny scenes and some that can get a bit confusing as I am never quite sure if something is really happening or if it is in their imagination (you see they both have these thoughts of mad things that they want to do to each other) and because the film is so eccentric its hard to tell the difference between the 2.
This film lasts around 1 hour and 30 minutes but to be honest the time flew in for me. Oh how time flies when you are having fun!
Oh the soundtrack?? I would love to hear the soundtrack for this film as a couple of the songs that they played in the film i loved including Jem "Its just a ride" anyway soundtracks would be a whole different review!!!!
