Advantages: None Disadvantages: Too violent, some bad acting.
...Being a Stallone fan, Rocky and Rambo films in particular, i couldn't wait to see the new Rambo movie.
Now i have seen it, i wish that i hadn't. This is quite possibly the most violent movie i have seen, EVER. The amount of of gratuitous violence is quite simply ridiculous, and must hold some kind of record for the most deaths in an hour and a half (in a film).
John Rambo is an ex US special forces and we are lead to believe a one man killing machine, that just wants to be left alone. Rambo has gone to live in Northern Thailand, he catches fish and poisonous snakes for a living. He also runs a longboat up the Salween river and acts as a boat guide for anybody that wants to cross the border into Burma.
For the past 60 years, Burma has been gripped by civil war between the burmese army and a tribe called the Karen rebels. This civil war...

Advantages: Great battle scenes Disadvantages: few but old fashioned outlook.
...This is an amazing film and anyone who enjoys intense action or battle orientated films should buy this DVD. This classic film is an excellent portrayal of the battle where 100 redcoats stood against a force of 4000 Zulus in the Zulu wars of the 1870s.
The battle scenes are inredible. With countless extras forfilling the role of the Zulus to create an enoumassly intimidating force. It is a shame that films like these are rarely made any more. It is very much a last gasp of British glorification of colonialism but maintains a deep respect for the Zulus whom the British were trying to subdue.
It is the clash of cultures and the way in which this is portrayed which makes this film. From the philosphical outlook of a missionary and his daughter to the crude and coarse irreverant humour of the redcoats.
This is a film worth buying....

Advantages: Seeing the ex-husband & wife team in a movie together Disadvantages: the movie
...Not another flop movie for Madonna, but unfortunately, that’s exactly what it is. Being a Madonna fan, I was obliged to watch it… that’s my excuse.
The Queen of Pop plays Gloria Tatlock, a missionary that tries to convince Glendon Wasey (Sean Penn), to find a whole load of Opium to use on suffering Chinese soldiers.
The shipment of Opium belonging to Walter (Paul Freeman) was on its way out of the country when he was hunted down by the boys in blue and forced into hiding.
Now, it’s up to the once married pair to find it and put it to good use.
Obviously there’s more than one person looking for the stash.
As I said before, I was obliged to watch this movie for the reason of Madonna, otherwise it would be a waste of money to rent or buy it.
Sorry Madonna....
