This review is on the 2006, trilogy, Mission Impossible 3 starring Tom Cruise, as IFM agent Ethan Hunt. Now I was a really big fan of the first mission impossible, and then kind of let down by the second one, however again like the first one I liked the final instalment, because it was so much different in terms of storyline, style, action scenes and so on. The film was directed by JJ Abrams, who most people may no from such film as Cloverfeild, and TV shows such as Alias and Lost. He's a brilliant director, he does some of the most intense action sequences, and it pulls of really well.
For people whom haven't seen the mission impossible film, the main background plot is that Ethan Hunt works for a special government agency known as the IMF, Impossible Mission Force, who is like a MI6 type organization. There goals are to stop all the bad guys and protect the country from disaster.
Plot:
Ethan Hunt, is just enjoying his retirement, he's found a lovely new fiancée, Julia (Michelle Monaghan), and wants to live out his days with her, leaving the agency behind him. However, during a mission, one of Ethan's students Agent Lindsey Farris has been kidnapped by Owen Davian (Philip Seymour Hoffman) an arms dealer. After coming out of retirement, Ethan along with his team Declan Gormley, Zhen and Luther Stickel must travel to Berlin the rescue Lindsey. The mission is almost a success, however whilst transporting Lindsey out of Berlin, a chip implanted inside her brain activates and she is instantly killed. Hell bent on revenge, the team travel to the Vatican, were they hope to track down Davian and kidnap him. All goes well and he's bought back to America, were he once again escapes, however this time he kidnaps Julia, Ethan's Fiancée, and the only way to get her back is to find the "Rabbits Foot", and deliver it to Davian within 72 hours.
Characters:
Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt:
Tom's character throughout the trilogy has changed dramatically, this time he's become more of a human character, in the sense that he has feelings, and when his wife to be, we really see something, were not suppose too, emotion. I personally don't like Tom Cruise, largely due to the whole scientology thing, however as an actor, he is brilliant, and he has defiantly made mission impossible a brilliant franchise.
Owen Davian (Philip Seymour Hoffman):Hoffman is a brilliant actor, and he plays a very cruel, vile yet clever villain in the film. Unlike other mission impossible films, he's not trained in martial arts; he's just incredibly powerful, and has a brain, which he uses to get what he wants.
My thoughts:
If you haven't seen this film then I suggest you watch it. The film has a little for everyone, it's got the action, a good solid storyline to follow, some emotion, etc. I loved the action sequences in this film, they were well choreographed and looked amazing on the big screen, its fast, its high thrills and its edge of your seat type feeling.
