The Impossible Has Been Achieved
Review of Mission Impossible 3 DVD by JayHall1991

Advantages: Good Action, Mainly Good Acting, Exciting, Tense
Disadvantages: Cruise = Dull

...I walked into Mission Impossible 3 with dwindling expectations. The original was a fun piece of escapism, but hardly worthy of a sequel and much less a third in the already over tired action genre. Fortunately -and surprisingly- I enjoyed every single moment of it, and found myself smiling, crying and edging closer to the edge of my seat as the film hurtled towards its touching and exhilarating final act. Mission Impossible 3 is a proper action film ...
...by the day and when Mission Impossible 3 opens with Cruise, beaten and bleeding tied to a chair being forced to see his fiancée cruelly slaughtered you know that this is going to join them. It is a tense scene. It is a scene displaying great acting. It is a wonderful introduction. But by lord it's a shock! It then allows the film to zoom back in time -leaving the audience gasping for breath and moving from the edge of their seats- to a place where ... Read review

Mission: Impossible 3. The movie star that guarantees global box office success has teamed up with the director who is now known to create small screen phenomena. Yes Thomas Cruise Mapother IV, aka Tom Cruise, has joined forces with Jeffrey Jacob Abrams, (better known as J.J. Abrams) creator of Alias and Lost, for the third installment of the multi-million dollar franchise. Question is, will Abrams make the transition from TV to movies or will he ...

Advantages: A decent third film in the set
Disadvantages: Tries to be something it isnt in places

...screens as Ethan Hunt in Mission Impossible 2. At the beginning of May he returned for the 3rd instalment in the series, ten years after the original brought Hunt to our screen's the first time round. Cruise has also taken a step up to not only star in MI:3 but also take a producers credit for his latest all action adventure. I decided that as I had nothing to do this morning that I'd go and see if the third part is as enjoyable as the previous 2. ...

MI3 (2006)
Review of Mission Impossible 3 DVD by zenmachado

Advantages: clever action sequences
Disadvantages: They had to blow up such a nice car.

...basically a continuation of a Mission Impossible saga, that originated from a television show. The first movie made was in 1996. It was called Mission Impossible and was directed by Brian De Palma, and the star of the show was Tom Cruise, playing the now famous supa' spy.. Ethan Hunt. With the help of the always great David Koepp, that movie was a delightful thriller/action movie that made good use of the fresh "man under the mask" idea. That movie ...
...called "Joyride". In Mission Impossible 3, we find supa'spy Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) as a retired IMF field leader. He is far from active duty and enjoying it. He is now training new IMF agents to become supa' spies like he once was. In a change of events, he is suddenly ripped away from the family life that he had just began to enjoy, to be confronted with a international weapons dealer that has a reputation for being slick and a very bad man. More Action Than Oprah
Review of Mission Impossible 3 DVD by utero

Advantages: Entertaining, Good Action
Disadvantages: Still those silly face masks

...the Caribbean and of course Mission Impossible III. Fresh from a year of tabloid print, scientology and vomit inducing outbursts on Oprah, Tom returns to his cash cow to reprise the role of Ethan Hunt. For me the first Mission Impossible film was ok but a tad confusing. The second film was quite annoying and pretty dull with a crap villain. Surprisingly it's third time lucky as MI:3 is an enjoyable popcorn muncher. In this one, Hunt has gotten ...
...were incorporated too much. A Mission Impossible film shouldn't feature long ponderous moments of reflection, it should be bang bang bang all the way through. The TV series was always a team effort with IMF agents pulling together to pull off an operation. The previous two films didn't play on that but thankfully this one does. Of course Hunt is at the centre of all operations and action but he can't do it without the help of his assembled team. ... Read review

Mission: Improbably Dull
Review of Mission Impossible 3 (Rental) (DVD) by  afy9mab

Advantages: Some decent action
Disadvantages: Overly long, downbeat and po-faced

...Ethan Hunt has retired from active service in the Impossible Missions Force and is about to settle down and marry his nurse fiancée Julia, who knows nothing of his secret life. But at his engagement party he takes a call from IMF that reveals one of his protégés has been kidnapped while on a mission by international arms dealer Owen Davian. So Ethan goes in to save her. But things aren't quite as simple as they seem and he's soon back on the job, continent hopping his way round the world, trying to track down Davian before the villain finds and destroys everything he holds dear. There was a lot of hoo-ha when "Alias" director and "Lost" creator JJ Abrams was brought on board this blockbuster project. Could he compete with the big boys on the big screen? Well, if you want my opinion, the answer is no. He spends so much time trying... Read review

DVD Description

J.J. Abrams, creator of small-screen hits ALIAS and LOST, makes his feature film debut with the third installment of this successful series based on the hit 1960s television show. Secret Agent Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) has decided to take it easy and lead a somewhat normal life. He's even found his perfect woman, Julia (Michelle Monaghan), and is engaged. But when newbie agent Lindsey Farris (Keri Russell)--whom Hunt mentored--goes missing while on assignment, the reluctant agent finds himself back in business. Soon, with his old buddy Luther (Ving Rhames) in tow, along with team members Zhen (Maggie Q) and Declan (Jonathan Rhys Meyers), Hunt is traversing the globe on the trail of Farris's captor, Owen Davian (Philip Seymour Hoffman), an elusive international weapons dealer. The stakes increase when the villainous Davian gets a hold of Hunt's fiancee and uses her as a bargaining chip. A raucous combination of spectacular chases, explosions, amazing stunts, and elaborate schemes takes the Impossible Mission Force (IMF) team to Berlin, the Vatican, and Shanghai. With fascinating hi-tech tools these secret agents can impersonate virtually anyone, scale walls in an instant, infiltrate the tightest security system, and blow up the evidence when they're done. But facing their most formidable foe ever, Hunt and his fellow agents are fighting the clock to keep Julia alive and get Davian the mysterious weapon he is demanding. Cruise's personal involvement in the stunts lends a nice air of authenticity to Hunt, who also shows his emotional side in this outing as he juggles his secret life and his new love, as well as possible betrayal by someone inside the IMF. Laurence Fishburne also stars as IMF's Director Brassel, and Billy Crudup appears as his somewhat timid right-hand man, Musgrave.
