clocking up money right across the globe, the by-now obligatory repacking of previous episodes gives those whove missed out to date a chance to bring their DVD collection up to date. The originalMission: Impossiblemovie remains a terrific action-thriller. Led by Tom Cruises Ethan Hunt, theres a delicious mix of fine casting, cracking plot twists and momentous pace. Yet its director Brian De Palma who steals the show, delivering a handful of his superb trademark set pieces in a way that perfectly matches the source material. Sure, theres the odd crack in it all, the odd ropey effect and a bit of unravelling to do, but this remains an excellent example of what a Hollywood blockbuster could and should be.John WoosM:I:2is less successful however, although youd still be hard pressed not to enjoy it. Dougray Scott is drafted in as the nemesis this time, and for around an hour of the film, it hangs together well. But Woos movie is less focused and concentrated than De Palmas, and it shows. Its flabby running time and more indulgent action sequences are both forgivable of course, as this is still good, routine, blockbuster entertainment, yet its far from the best work that either the director or star have put in.Still, its a lively double pack you get here, and each movie does serve up the requisite levels of entertainment youd be looking for. Its just the original does it so much better.--Simon Brew

Advantages: Blue-Ray At Its Best Disadvantages: None
I had watched Band Of Brothers many of times with the Normal DVD boxset, but with the all new Blu-Ray edition it has enlightened my eyes with sharpness and detail in the best action sequences from blowing up bulidings with a mortar to bullit wizzing sounds with the quality of the new surround sound that you can get with this Blu-Ray edition.
As you may have read Band of Brothers is a ten-part television World War II miniseries based on the book written by historian and biographer Stephen Ambrose. It was executive produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks.
The narrative experiences of EasyCompany of the 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment assigned to the 101st Airborne Division, from Easy's basic training at Toccoa, Georgia, through the American airborne landings in Normandy, Operation Market Garden, the Battle ...
Advantages: It's a media center, great games, blu-ray, excellent online integration and interface Disadvantages: Secondary controllers are not cheap, can't play PS2 games on it.
I joined the console world recently having been a die-hard fps player for years and was very pleasantly surprised with my new PS3. The toss up was between a Wii, the Xbox and the PS3 and I went for the PS3 basically because of the blu-ray player. Also, Microsoft won't want to turn the Xbox into too much of a media centre so as not to dent the 'Windows media centre' sales, and the Wii whilst fun is old tech.
When it arrived I discovered more reasons apart from gaming that the PS3 is great and here they are:
1) It's a media center, e.g. plug in a normal USB hard drive and play music files, play video files view pics. Sweet.
2) You can get a relatively cheap remote control and your PS3 instantly replaces your DVD player and is a nice Blu-Ray player too.
3) This slim PS3 is really quiet and consumes less power.

Advantages: Classy fast paced action adventures starring Tom Cruise at his best Disadvantages: None
As a devotee of the original Mission: Impossible television series I was looking forward to seeing these films. In their time the television series was very cutting edge in its story lines and effects.
Mission: Impossible1 opens with the hero Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) leading his team of operatives on a mission which goes horribly wrong. His team is wiped out ( with the exception of 1) and he is blamed by his spy bosses. As a result he is put out in the cold - and he decides to find out what went wrong and who was responsible.
He contacts other agents who are beyond sanction and starts work. Vaneesa Redgrave has a cameo role in this film - not entirely believable in her part but it does not detract from the storyline.
The special effects in this film are magic - hi tech and brilliant to watch. The various computer elements look ...
