Dick began writing novels prolifically and his short story output lessened. The title story of this collection has been made into the Steven Spielberg-directed movie of the same name while "The Days of Perky Pat" inspired one of Dick's greatest works the novel The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch; The Penultimate Truth grew from "The Mold of Yancy". Philip K. Dick is shown at his incomparable prime in this fourth volume of the definitive collection of short fiction.

Tom cruise done it again with The Minority report, also from director STEVEN SPIELBERG you no that these 2 can make a movie work. This film about catching crime before it happens, for example if some was to even try to kill someone then these people would get caught before they had the chance. I shall tell you a little about this film, Tom Cruise plays a cop who lost his son which also affected his marrige, so he becomes the main part of the film and this is what the film revolves around. It all starts to go wrong when (Collin Farrel) who plays a government cop tries to find a floor in the system that stops crime before it happens. His belief is that (Tom Cruise) or John Anderton as he's known in the film is the floor in this system. So he asks Anderton if he can see the Precogs. These are two males and one female which have been modified and can see murders hapopen. All pregogs have to agree on the murder to get an accurate result. If one disagrees this is then deleted and this is what you would call the Minority Report. Very clever is all I can say and you would need to watch this film a few times to get the understanding of the film. Any way once shown the precogs he is impressed and then leaves. Anderton is left in the room (The Temple as explained in the film) on his own and the female precog grabs him and shows him a murder that has already taken place. From here it all starts to go wrong and down hill for anderton.
Later on in the film John Anderton gets a vision from the precogs and starts analizing the evidence for clues as to were, when and the the murder takes place. When a vision happens a wooden ball with a unique carving is made and this can not be forged in any way. With the vision Anderton can use the complex computer system that he has to study the footage. Whilst doing this he has a couple of judges present, and he plays back this footage over and over again to find that he is the next murder case. He is given a couple of minutes to run and that he does very well.
Don't want to give the whole story away or it may spoil it for others who have'nt seen it.

Now for my own opinion on the film, I think this film has amazing special effects, very good acting from Mr Cruise, great sound effects and if you have 5.1 surround sound then WOW is all I can say.
So try it and Ithink your going to like it. I also think they should make a number two but with Tom Cruise is more recent film such Collateral he may not, but you never no.

DVD Description
The science-fiction thriller MINORITY REPORT, directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Tom Cruise, is based on a short story by renowned writer Philip K. Dick. In the year 2054, in Washington, D.C., murder has been eliminated thanks to Precrime, a program that uses the visions of three psychics, called Precogs (an abbreviation for precognitive thinkers), to arrest and imprison would-be murderers before they have a chance to kill. Tom Cruise plays John Anderton, a Precrime enforcer who believes in the system for his own personal reasons--years back his young son was abducted, and he has dealt with the loss by becoming a high-strung Precrime officer. The director of Precrime (Max von Sydow) is eager to take the program national, and feels threatened by an ambitious federal agent (Colin Farrell) who is bent on finding a flaw in the system. When Anderton finds himself accused of the future murder of a man he's never met, his faith in Precrime is instantly shaken. He goes on the run, and is trailed by the relentless Precrime police. In the tradition of BLADE RUNNER (also based on a Dick story), MINORITY REPORT is a dark, brooding vision of the future. Spielberg expertly mixes thrilling chase and suspense sequences (the best of which involves Anderton being pursued by eye-scanning mechanical spiders) and stunning special effects with a challenging look at society's willingness to sacrifice privacy and the notion of free will for convenience and security. MINORITY REPORT is a thought-provoking and exciting film that ranks with Spielberg's best.
