For six years, Washington D.C has been murder-free thanks to astounding technology which ... more
identifies killers before they commit their crimes. But when the chief of the Precrime Unit (Cruise) is himself accused of a future murder, he has just 36 hours to discover who set him up - or he'll fall victim to the perfect system he helped create. It's a mind-blowing action thriller that is fascinating and utterly absorbing... a triumph not to be missed.

responsible for apprehending would-be murderers before they can commit the deed. Given these parameters, it's not surprising that not a lot of characters die in this game. But there's still plenty of violence. Anderton himself is quite adept at pummelling other officers, guards, robots or anyone else who gets in his way. With a decent selection of kicks, punches, and combinations (you can purchase additional combos when you collect enough dollar signs), Anderton can beat his way through at least the beginning levels.Unfortunately you are unlikely to find much to enjoy inMinority Report, even if you liked the film. The elements that made the movie worthwhile--a compelling narrative wrapped up with a high-tech, futuristic bow--are glossed over or absent from the game. What's more, the gameplay is as redundant and simplistic as the graphics are uneven. Worse yet, the game does not allow you to save mid-level (some levels are long), and the instruction manual contains no information about how to play the game, forcing you to play through the training course. But despite thatMinority Reportdoes successfully represent parts of the movie, such as the concussion gun, the jet pack, and the spider bots. The first time you fire the concussion gun, for example, you'll be impressed with the way the space around Anderton ripples with the force of the weapon. Otherwise, the game levels are unimpressive and character animation is poor.Minority Reportis not great at recreating the movie, and is even less successful when it breaks with it. --Bill Hummel, Amazon.com

Dick began writing novels prolifically and his short story output lessened. The title story of this collection has been made into the Steven Spielberg-directed movie of the same name while "The Days of Perky Pat" inspired one of Dick's greatest works the novel The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch; The Penultimate Truth grew from "The Mold of Yancy". Philip K. Dick is shown at his incomparable prime in this fourth volume of the definitive collection of short fiction.

The storyline is exceptionally original which does not conflict with any other movie that has been set in the future. The name Tom Cruise does not normally come to mind when one is thinking of a futuristic film, but he actually does play quite a good character although at times the quality of his acting is questionable.

Tom Cruise is the head of the pre-crime department, all is well until a prediction appears that within the next day he will commit murder. Naturally he escapes and endevours to prove his innocence while trying to refrain from being captured by the pre-crime squad and put in virtual reality (not a happy prospect).
This film comes up with some nice twists and superb turns, the special effects team who have had to practically work within every scene of Minority report have really excelled themselves. The futuristic technology is amazing and yet at the same time seems perfectly plausible that in around 50 years time we really could be living like that... almost.
This is a nice action packed film which supplies the viewer with a nice steady stream of fascination and violence while abstaining from long boring scenes of talking. when they are actually talking this is very relevant to the plot and doesnt drift off.
The acting is very good and i personally think that Colin Farrell who has appeared in such great films as Hart's war and Daredevil. plays aquality character and is by far one of the better actors throughout the film. unusually he does not have an irish voice, he masks his irish birth with natural ease and you could easily take him for a cocky American.
This DVD does not come with any special features as it is the basic and cheapest version of the film you can purchase. £3 was the price i payed at HMV, this is worth every penny. You'll definately want to watch this film a couple o' times.
Advantages: the storyline and issues, visuals Disadvantages: Cruise, lack of character depth
Minority Report, basically, is a futuristic film (based on a short story by Philip K. Dick) where criminals get caught before they commit the act ('pre-crime'). Tom Cruise plays an officer accused by such a method, who then has to prove his innocence, before the act is committed. What makes it an interesting and complex film is the blend of issues involving paranoia and personal choice (very reminiscent of the original author), as well as society ... ...accused before they commit the crime surely cancels out any notion that the person might change their minds about committing the crime at all and have some sort of effect over their destiny. This makes the theme and storyline an interesting one.
Visually the film is excellent - with very detailed, thought-out scenes of the future - all in shades of blue and grey (why is there never any colour in the future?), mass-advertising, futuristic cars, very ...

The science-fiction thriller MINORITY REPORT, directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Tom Cruise, is based on a short story by renowned writer Philip K. Dick. In the year 2054, in Washington, D.C., murder has been eliminated thanks to Precrime, a program that uses the visions of three psychics, called Precogs (an abbreviation for precognitive thinkers), to arrest and imprison would-be murderers before they have a chance to kill. Tom Cruise plays John Anderton, a Precrime enforcer who believes in the system for his own personal reasons years back his young son was abducted, and he has dealt with the loss by becoming a high-strung Precrime officer. The director of Precrime (Max von Sydow) is eager to take the program national, and feels threatened by an ambitious federal agent (Colin Farrell) who is bent on finding a flaw in the system. When Anderton finds himself accused of the future murder of a man he's never met, his faith in Precrime is instantly shaken. He goes on the run, and is trailed by the relentless Precrime police. In the tradition of BLADE RUNNER (also based on a Dick story), MINORITY REPORT is a dark, brooding vision of the future. Spielberg expertly mixes thrilling chase and suspense sequences (the best of which involves Anderton being pursued by eye-scanning mechanical spiders) and stunning special effects with a challenging look at society's willingness to sacrifice privacy and the notion of free will for convenience and security. MINORITY REPORT is a thought-provoking and exciting film that ranks with Spielberg's best.
