...This film was released in 1994 and is a romantic comedy/drama starring the hugely popular Hugh Grant, and American actress; Andie MacDowell. The story follows the life of Charles (Grant) and his colourful, upper class British friends. Wondering if he will ever find the right woman, Charles finally thinks he has in Carrie (MacDowell) at a wedding he and his friends attend. Just when things seem to be going rather swimmingly, Carrie reveals to Charles that she is engaged to be married and cannot enter a relationship with him. Unfortunately, Carrie seems to become a regular guest within the same circles as poor Charles.
The viewer sees the group of friends attend to these lavish weddings, each leading to another with regards to what happened during the previous one, and we also then experience the tragedy of losing one of the friends...

Advantages: Quirky, good looking macabre comedy from the master of suspense Disadvantages: Not the usual Hitchcock flm
...the classic 'The Quiet Man' with John Wayne to the more recent guest appearances in 'Murder She wrote', 'Magnum PI' and 'Dangerous Liaisons'. She also tended to play slightly eccentric comic roles and she produces and fine performance in this film which in a very quiet unassuming way steal almost every scene she is in.
You feel that in making 'The Trouble With Harry' Hitchcock was having fun. He had done mysteries with comic undertones before but this is a departure for him and he really lets his sense of the macabre loose on the screen. Despite the subject matter the film retains a gentle humorous quality and can be watched by all, in fact is does descend into farce as the poor Harry is continually moved around and disposed of on many occasions but since this is Hitchcock it never gets too silly.
For me one of the pleasures of watching...

...Hmmm, I must say I was a little disappointed after watching this film, I guess I am a little behind, watching in 2006 but I was still expected a little bit more from what is known to be a British classic!
The film begins with Hugh Grant, (Charles in the movie), turning up extremely late to his best friends wedding where he is best man. He commits all the classical things a best man should NOT do like forgetting the rings at home. I guess there is a little humour but nothing stomach squeezing.
The most disappointing thing I found about this comedy is the fact there I did not actually feel there was a significant story line or any actual substance. I felt that most the time I was trying to count how many weddings had actually taken place to ensure I hadn't missed anything that funny and in anticipation of the humorous part. But I was...
