Colourful, informative and easily accessible to even the most novice of players, Michael ... more
Owen's Soccer Skills (subtitled How to Become the Complete Footballer) may not have you basking in the glory of international acclaim by the time you're 18, but it will certainly help you improve your game. Colour photographs, illustrations and step-by-step pointers on all the basic skills give you the grounding to get out on the pitch and get going. From kicking, passing, shooting, dribbling and volleying to more surprising inclusions such as a chapter on defending (Michael admits this is the biggest lesson he had to learn--defending from the front), this is the complete manual for the players and coaches of young teams. Action-packed photographs of Michael in action for both his club and his country, and sections on his extraordinary career so far, ensure this is aimed fairly and squarely at the young Owen follower. However, there is plenty in there for anyone merely wishing to improve their game and the discerning can skip the idol worship for good, hard facts on how to do exactly that. --Lucie Naylor

On the 14th December 1979 a star was born in Chester, England, that star being a certain Michael James Owen, the son of ex-Evertonian Terry Owen.
From a very early age, it was obvious that Owen was going to make the grade as a professional footballer and he was duly snapped up by Liverpool Football Club and signed on as a Schoolboy.
Owen went about breaking every goal-scoring record going whilst a youngster and made his breakthrough whilst starring in Liverpool?s 1996 FA Youth Cup winners. The next season he made his first team debut in a match against Wimbledon and surprise, surprise he scored his first league goal, at the tender age of 17. From that day, both he (Owen) and Liverpool have never looked back.
He became England?s youngest representative of the 20th century and also became England?s youngest ever goal-scorer in ...

Advantages: speed, finishing, fear factor Disadvantages: effort, cant hold the ball, out of form
Three is no doubt that MichaelOwen is a great player, he can finish well, has the intelligence to make great runs and the speed to get on the end of these runs, has a good temperament, can head the ball and has some ability when it comes to taking on players. I feel everyone knows these qualities and he is considered to be one of the top players in the world, however i have yet to see in recent games the Owen that has so impressed us in the past.
In all three England games he has failed to perform very well, even managing to earn the right to be substituted twice. In the first game he definately would have been subbed instead of Vassell if he had not been captain at the time He seems to have lost the will, nay not will, more of the effort factor in his game. He doesn't track back in the same way as say Heskey or Vassell have been ...

I had this DVD bought for me a few years ago seen as the person that bought it knew I was a fan of Green Street, so I don't know how much my copy of this cost but I would of thought from new it would have been around £15-£17.
I have never seen this DVD in supermarkets even ones that have a variety of older productions available, the only place I have ever seen this DVD is advertised online from anything from £5 to £15 I am sure it would be available from play ...
