The Man Those of you who religiously watch programmes such as Mock the Week and Have I Got News For You may already know that Michael McIntyre is hilariously funny, offering a brilliant social comedy from a middle-class perspective that manages to reach all people.
The DVD In Tesco's it costs around £14, so I imagine it will be something similar everywhere. It includes the full, over-an-hour-long performance, plus his performance from a while ago on Live at the Apollo. This is excellent value for money - can you imagine having to buy tickets, claim insurance when the tout was a scam, go all the way down to London, find the Apollo, and probably utilise some form of public transport? The thought is horrifying. Instead, buy the DVD, gather your friends round, with a lot of food that won't cause a mess when you laugh uncontrollably while eating. Fizzy drinks not recommended!
The Material The whole performance is brilliantly funny from start to finish. Covering subjects from traffic to toddlers with airports and attics in between, there is sure to be something to tickle you. There aren't really any lulls in the material - I found my self laughing pretty much solidly for over an hour. And as an asthmatic with a cough drinking lemonade, this was a problem, but an extremely enjoyable one.
Should You Buy This? Yes! It would make an excellent present for anyone who is a fan of comedy in general, and those who need a good introduction to it. Or you could just treat yourself and add an excellent performance to your DVD collection. Enjoy!
Don't worry, there isn't any offensive content. I would be happy watching it with my grandparents, but some minor language might not be suitable for children aged around 12 and under. The DVD has a rating of 15.
And remember McIntyre's golden wisdom - "Think Prick, Say Tut!"
