from Michael Jackson's album of the same name. Whatever your opinion of the man himself, you cannot deny his abilities as one of the world's finest showmen and his videos are never anything less than spectacular. There was a time when the screening of a new Michael Jackson video was a huge global event, drawing in massive global audiences. This had a downside when "Black Or White" was first screened, as the final segment in which Michael morphs backwards and forwards from a panther form and destroys a car, bar and most of a street caused huge controversy due to its perceived endorsement of vandalism. To the compilers' credit, the entire video is included here but with a full explanation of the ending and a warning not to copy it. For the converted this will be a worthy addition to the collection. For the more cynical, this is a fascinating if somewhat uneasy look at one of pop's most enigmatic and bizarre characters. On the DVD:With a wealth of rare behind-the-scenes footage and a selection of rarely seen live performances, such as a lavish rendition of "Heal The World" from the Super Bowl, the DVD certainly packs on the extras. There is also extensive footage from shoots of the video, as well as those of "Remember The Time" and "In The Closet" complete with fascinating insights from co-stars Eddie Murphy and Naomi Campbell. Other extras include Grammy Awards and NAACP Awards highlights which depending on your opinion of the man in question can be seen as either fitting tributes to the King of Pop or nauseatingly over-sentimental sycophantic claptrap. --Helen Marquis

Advantages: Some great videos and clips of Michael. Disadvantages: Some bits are boring as it is a little too long.
...think) somewhere. He then sees Michael performing the song with aload of natives- what a sight! It's an inventive video that I thoroughly enjoy watching.
2. Superbowl Heal The World-
Michael singing in front of a live audience of mainly kids holding up pieces of paper so it looks like the audience are children all holding hands together (hard to explain!). It's a bit emotional and sentimental and the song is a bit mushy, but ... ...the Pharaoh's wife. Then enters Michael dressed in a black hooded robe, he then does some magic and transforms into the Michael we all know and love. He then sings "do you remember the time, when we fell in love, do you remember the time, when we first met girl" to the pharaoh's wife which upsets the pharaoh who orders his men on to Michael, but of course he doesn't manage to catch him. The back of the video (or DVD I imagine) lists the songs that are included in "Dangerous-The Short Films".
Here is the list:
1.Black Or White- A great song and a pretty funny video staring Macaulay Culkin as a mischievous kid who wants to play his music loud and his dad won't let him, saying "you are wasting your time with this garbage, now go to bed!" Macaulay then proceeds to turn his music up REALLY loud and the noise makes his father shoot out of the roof in his chair and land in Africa (I think) somewhere. He then sees Michael performing the song with aload of natives- what a sight! It's an inventive video that I thoroughly enjoy watching.
2. Superbowl Heal The World- Michael singing in front of a live audience of mainly kids holding up pieces of paper so it looks like the audience are children all holding hands together (hard to explain!). It's a bit emotional and sentimental and the song is a bit mushy, but it's ok.
3. Remember The Time- A great video set in Egypt. This stars Eddie Murphy as the Pharoah whose wife "wants to be entertained". Two men come in after one another- One who gets thrown to the lions for doing a not very good performance with sticks, the other gets his throat slit (you don't actually see this!) because his "eating fire" act failed to impress the Pharaoh's wife. I Like the video, and it's a good song. It shows just what is possible to do in a short music video and is so inventive and ahead of it's time. Michael's outfit in this video is interesting!
4. Will You Be There- Sung infront of an audience- it's sung with passion, and Michael even cries a bit at the end I think! However, the video (and song) is far too soppy for my liking, and is characteristic of how Michael likes to get loads of kids and people in to sing with him.
5. In the Closet- Stars also Naomi Campbell. The video's kinda boring, but it's nice to see the chemistry between Michael and Naomi, I love the song.
6. Gone Too Soon- This is a really sad song and makes me cry! It's about Ryan White- a boy Michael knew who had AIDS who sadly died. It has clips of Michael spending time with Ryan and it's a really beautiful and heartfelt song.
7. Jam- I quite like this song although it seems to go on for a little too long, as does the video which has an appearance from Michael Jordan in it. (There is also a clip of MJ trying to teach Michael how to do MJ's dance moves such as the moonwalk- with little success! It also has a fun game of basketball between the two as this is what the song centres on). You get to see Michael's playful side.
8. Heal The World- I don't like this video much because Michael's not in it at all! It has lots of clips of children in hospitals dieing (which is really horrible) and children playing, it also shows soldiers. I have gone off this song in recent years, but it is ok.
9. Give In To Me- This is one of my favourite MJ songs. It is a really loud rock-type song with Slash from Guns N Roses playing the guitar. Michael looks cool in it and it has some great lightning-type effects in it.
10. Who Is It- Video's ok, I like the song. About a relationship breaking down and the guy wondering if it's because the girl is seeing someone else.
11. Dangerous- Shows a live performance by Michael of this with some clips of the fans also. A great song!
Production Year: 1993 Running Time: 1 hour 52 minutes
As well as these songs, there are many clips of Michael's performances and some short clips of other songs by him. "Dangerous" doesn't have any full songs from when Michael was a child or when he first started out, but you do see some short clips of him when he was younger etc. There are so many things on this video that it is nearly impossible to list them all. It seems like this film goes on forever!
I do admit I have to fast-forward some of the videos as they can get a bit boring sometimes- like "Jam" for instance, but overall it is a great showcase for Michael's talents and thoroughly enjoyable to watch if a little long-but that's not a bad thing right?
I bought the video from HMV for £13.99 when I was about 12, I'm not sure how much the DVD would cost or how widely available it is, but if you can pick it up from somewhere or see it at a car boot sale or something I'd definitely recommend it.

DVD Description
After pioneering the epic music video with his ground breaking short movies for "Thriller," "Bad" (directed by the acclaimed feature auteur Michael Jackson,) and others, the King of Pop's next project was awaited with great expectations. And Jackson, as always, managed to meet these with his album, "Dangerous," for which he continued his pattern of making innovative, trend-setting videos. DANGEROUS is a home video which includes the uncut versions of these videos -- from the crazy morphing effects of "Black and White" to the exotic royalty of "Remember The Time." In addition, the previously unseen short film "Gone Too Soon" plus "Who Is It," which has never been released in the U.S., are included.
