Released in 2006, ?Death Row? was another horror film produced and directed by horror expert Kevin VanHook. Other horror films Kevin VanHook has produced and directed are those such as ?The Fallen Ones? (2005) and ?Voodoo Man? (2005). You may or may not have heard of these. He has also worked on films such as ?Miss Congeniality?, ?Daredevil? and ?I Robot?.
?An abandoned prison.
A dark past.
And an evil?
That will not die.?
This brief description on the front cover of the DVD gives you an insight to what the film is about. Drawing the attention of possible viewers. It certainly grabbed my attention and I was intrigued to find out more ...

The Film
Death Ship is a 1980 horror film that opens on the sea with an old ship storming across the waves. It?s seemingly controlled by ghosts and a German voice is heard over the intercom. At the same time on an apparently near by cruise liner a party is going on. The captain of the ship (George Kennedy) is just about to retire and hand over control to Marshall his second in command played by Richard Crenna.
The two ships are apparently on a collision course but this is really badly created in the film as whenever you see the old haunted ship its daylight but whenever you see the cruise liner is in pitch darkness. The two ships have clearly been filmed at two different times of day and it?s such an obvious mistake that the audience can?t miss.
Anyway, the ships crash and the cruise liner is seen to suffer a lot of damage ...
Advantages: Current Movie ,Original . Leaves you wanting more .... Disadvantages: None Really
and that is that Light has a girlfriend throughout the movie who plays quite a big role in the movie. There are other slight variations in the movie compared to the manga series but on the whole it stays very close to volume 1 in the series. There is a great twist at the end of this movie. Can't spoil it for you though!
This movie is placed in the SUPERNATURAL THRILLER Genre . Personally for me it wasn't quite a thriller in a way that is scary but it was thrilling nonetheless as is quoted on the the dvd sleeve ''deliriously dark...weirdly cool!!!'' Bizarre..... ''brilliantly effective'' **** Alan Jones-Starburst
This movie is the first of two Death Note Movies .I haven't watched the second yet but hope to in the very near future as the end of this film really leaves you hanging as to what will happen next. So if you enjoy this movie ...
