associated with it. The all round presentation is diabolical, and it is a film that I really struggled to finish watching. There is, naturally, a big fight scene at the end of the film, and for a minute or two I was actually engrossed in some of it - a little suspense crept into it. However, when Bergen starting brandishing his moustache again, all fantasy in my head about watching something different disappeared once more to be replaced with boredom.
Merlin: The Return is currently available for £1.50 from amazon.co.uk, and I think this very low price says quite a lot as to what value is placed upon it. The copy I have is one that came free with a national newspaper, and it is literally just the film. There are no extras. It came as part of a collection of fantasy films from the paper. Advantages: very cheap to buy Disadvantages: utter drivel.
Now do not be fooled, this has nothing to do with the award winning "Merlin" or "Merlin's apprentice" starring Sam Neill. I was one of the people who fell into this trap. After seeing "Merlin", this is a very disappointing film in comparison. I believed that this would be a comedy version of the wonderful myth behind Merlin. I was attracted to the film as Rik Mayall was cast as Merlin. What a disappointment. I found the film neither funny nor awe-inspiring as the fantastic "Merlin".
