As the title suggests the two part film/drama is about Merlin's life, original broadcast on Channel 4 (around Christmas time 1998). A magical tale of myth and magic of old ways (pagans) and of new ways (Christians). A tale of enchantment, a world of Faeries, Griffins, Gnomes, dragons and other fantastical beasts. There are epic battles between good and evil, good kings and bad kings. Arthurian legend is one the most famous fantasy tales ever, made even more magical by the presence of Merlin, King Arthur's magician. Some stories would have you believe different versions, with one of the more recent versions being that starring Clive Owen as Arthur, giving it more of a Crusades twist.
However, the twist on the tale here attempts to visit Arthur and Merlin many years on, taking us down a different path with the tale, and adding a modern setting to a large part of it. The trouble is, it doesn't quite come off. In fact, it's a dire representation of cinema, in many ways.

Got this as a present so i was able to follow how it all started. Even being on my early 30's i still enjoy watching fantasy and magical films especially with my little one. I believe that there's something worthwhile with those film. It's not only about the adventure of the story and the happy endings but also the moral lesson and good values that children can pick up.
