As the title suggests the two part film/drama is about Merlin's life, original broadcast on Channel 4 (around Christmas time 1998). A magical tale of myth and magic of old ways (pagans) and of new ways (Christians). A tale of enchantment, a world of Faeries, Griffins, Gnomes, dragons and other fantastical beasts. Arthurian legend is one the most famous fantasy tales ever, made even more magical by the presence of Merlin, King Arthur's magician. Some stories would have you believe different versions, with one of the more recent versions being that starring Clive Owen as Arthur, giving it more of a Crusades twist.
However, the twist on the tale here attempts to visit Arthur and Merlin many years on, taking us down a different path with the tale, and adding a modern setting to a large part of it. The trouble is, it doesn't quite come off. In fact, it's a dire representation of cinema, in many ways.

's character is quite funny and cocky. I actually folllow it through bbc1, it is now on it's 2nd season and the story is getting more exciting as it goes. On the otherhand, I think that it's not really for young children. Some of my friends kids get scared even seeing just the introduction. My son use to watch it with me and some characters and scene scares him a lot, but he gets through it at the end. As a result Merlin joins the list of his super heroes now.
