This collection features the action films HANCOCK, MEN IN BLACK and MEN IN BLACK 2, ... more
starring Will Smith.HANCOCK ? Peter Berg (THE KINGDOM, FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS) directs this story of a reluctant superhero, John Hancock (Will Smith). Like the best superheroes, Hancock can fly, is bulletproof, and has insurmountable strength. He uses these gifts to fight crime in Los Angeles and save people in distress. Unfortunately, he is also a drunk who leaves a trail of costly destruction behind during his lifesaving pursuits, and his constant sarcasm fails to win him friends. But after Hancock randomly saves his life, public relations executive Ray Embrey (Jason Bateman) decides to give him a makeover and help the superhero change his image so that the police and citizens of Los Angeles will realize how much they need their seemingly inappropriate hero.MEN IN BLACK ? In the 1950s a super-secret government agency was formed to monitor and police the activities of extraterrestrial aliens on the planet Earth. Some 40 years later a founding father of the agency, Agent Kay (Tommy Lee Jones), finds himself with a new smart-mouthed partner fresh from the NYPD who is soon dubbed Agent Jay (Will Smith). Their first mission is to save the Earth from destruction by a giant insect-like alien (Vincent D'Onfrio) that, incidentally, drives an exterminator's truck. Armed with their matching Ray-Bans, skinny ties, and space-age weapons that Jay barely understands he calls the Neuralyzer the 'flashy thing' the new duo begin another average day of fighting intergalactic terrorists. An amazingly hip and terribly clever movie that riffs on everything from E.T. THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL to CASABLANCA, this Barry Sonnenfeld film is based on the equally savvy comic book by Lowell Cunningham.MEN IN BLACK 2 ? Reuniting director Barry Sonnenfeld with most of the original film's cast, MEN IN BLACK II picks up with alien-monitoring secret agent Jay (Will Smith) in a rut. Weary of the isolated life of an MIB operative, Jay continually fires new partners until MIB director Zed (Rip Torn) teams him up with the talkative pug Frank (voiced by Tim Blaney). Together they investigate an 'alien-on-alien' murder witnessed by the lovely Rita (Rosario Dawson), who Jay immediately falls for. The case eventually leads Jay and Frank to track down agent Kay (Tommy Lee Jones), who now works at a rural post office, completely unaware of his former life. Unfortunately, it's what Kay can't remember that may save the world from destruction at the hands of the shape-shifting alien Serleena (Lara Flynn Boyle). As Jay attempts to jog the memory of the reluctant Kay, Serleena takes over MIB headquarters, building up to a big New York City showdown.
Same Planet Different Scum! Agent J and Agent K are back! Agent J (Will Smith) needs ... more
help with a new breed of alien terror intent on destroying the planet. He is sent to find Agent K (Jones) restore his memory and enlist him in the fight of a lifetime.

Overall ---------- This is, like its predecessor, a really funny, well made film. Don't expect a deep and meaningful storyline and you wont be disappointed. It would be enjoyable to any age group and i would recommend buying it. You can get this DVD now for around £4 which is great value.
Advantages: Funny film, great special effects, fabulous extra features Disadvantages: Run of the mill sequel, Average script, The product placement is a touch much.
I had eagerly awaited the 2 disk DVD release of MeninBlack2 for the past two months, ever since I had heard of its imminent parole date. As a huge fan of the original I had naturally pre-ordered my own copy of part 2 and after viewing both disks, here is my summery:
\\\\\\ PLOT //////
MeninBlack2 picks up 5 years after the first one ended, agent Jay (Will Smith – MeninBlack, Independence day, Ali) is having a few minor problems finding a partner fit to replace agent Kay (Tommy Lee Jones – MeninBlack, Volcano, The fugitive) who was deneuralyzed (memory erased) and given a new life as a postal worker at the end of the first film.
When a strange and attractive female alien lands on earth, agent Jay is forced to reneuralyze Agent Kay to tackle the problem.

Overview

Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith are a fab duet in this modern Sci-Fi film. They really have bucked the trend bringing sci-fi to the masses and doing the impossible - making it funny!
Plot
-----
This film was originally based on a Marvel comic. A secret government agency who wear black suits and Ray-Bans (hence MenInBlack) confront any illegal aliens on Earth. The aliens come in various guises ranging from bug eyed, slime covered horrors to dog shaped cute ones, and, in the final scene giant cockroaches with very bad attitudes.
Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones are paired together by MIB to keep an eye on aliens in New York City and must try to save the world after the aliens threaten to blow it up.

Advantages: Great film, Love it. Many extras included. Disadvantages: Too much advertising on the discs.
MIIB is another sequel, only this time they have managed to make the sequel better than the original (unusual).
Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones (hold on a sec "I thought he was neuralised in the first MenInBlack" well this is true) appear in the sequel which is a good thing, too keep the original cast.
The DVD version of this film comes as a double disc set.
Disc 1 includes:
Barry Sonnenfeld's commentary with optional telestrator diagrams,
Alien Broadcast,
Alien Escape (PS2 Game Promo)
The Chubb Chubb's short film,
MenInBlack2 Training video and
Theatrical Trailer's.
This disc is quite good even though it is mostly filled with advertising (they got to cover costs some how) never mind the Box Office money that they made.
The best part about this disc is the "Training Video", This has the likes of Richard Madeley ...
Contains mild language, violence, sex references and sci-fi horror

Reuniting director Barry Sonnenfeld with most of the original film's cast, MEN IN BLACK II picks up with alien-monitoring secret agent Jay (Will Smith) in a rut. Weary of the isolated life of an MIB operative, Jay continually fires new partners until MIB director Zed (Rip Torn) teams him up with the talkative pug Frank (voiced by Tim Blaney). Together they investigate an 'alien-on-alien' murder witnessed by the lovely Rita (Rosario Dawson), who Jay immediately falls for. As Jay attempts to jog the memory of the reluctant Kay, Serleena takes over MIB headquarters, building up to a big New York City showdown. A fast-paced follow-up to the 1997 sci-fi comedy, MEN IN BLACK II sticks to its guns, offering up more action, aliens, and intergalactic weirdness. This time around Smith and characters such as Frank and the wisecracking worms are the focus, although Jones makes the most out of his screen time with his deadpan persona thoroughly intact. And, as with the first movie, MIB II features plenty of enjoyable scenes, including an underground romp involving a subway-sized alien and Frank the Dog's head-out-of-the-car-window rendition of 'I Will Survive'.
