Having watched the series on television, obviously misssing many episodes, I decided to buy the set. Initially I must say that the photography and commentary throughout is wonderful. The producers have captured these enchanting animals in all aspects of their natural life.
It provides a deep insight into the lives of these animals and one cannot help become attached to the various creatures, their families and the emotions they seem to show to each other and to all the situations that confront them. There are tradgedies - these cannot be avoided in nature but each incident is handled sensatively and there are no gruesome death scenes depicted in all too many nature films. Each Meerkat is designated its own personality which evolves throughout the series and each episode introduces something new about the Meerkat lives.
