Advantages: horror story not seen too often on tv Disadvantages: no high tec special effects
The MedusaTouch is a film about control , regret and unharnassed power. Richard Burtons character is one of tired regret and fatigue.
He wants to end it all but his condition wont let him.Death is all around
him .He controls by death. His phychiatrist played by Lee Remich
can see his sorrow but virtually gives up and takes it out on herself.
The world is full of people who make constant threats. Only in this
case, the threats cannot be undone once started.
In the world of nice endings; this isnt one. It is a thought proking one
about a control freak who wont let go.
This story has no time or place. It could be now or 30 years before.
Help! ...
Advantages: A classic Brit Horror Disadvantages: A little short on extras
There was, for a brief period a time, horror movies that touched upon more than just the visceral terrors of gore that infect so many modern genre films. This period gave us a number of what were to become classic horrors, The Omen, The Exorcist and in my humble opinion The MedusaTouch.
While not as well known or written about as the former, The MedusaTouch sits comfortably in their company, as it deals with more than just the terror of the central story, a man who can will destruction, but in part also addresses issues of guilt and responsibility and the existence of God in a seemingly Godless world. But despite all its nods to worthiness, The MedusaTouch succeeds in being a damn good romp.
Starring Richard Burton (in a tour de force performance) and Lee Remick, the story centres around the attempted murder of John Morlar a writer ...

DVD Description
Two thrillers collected onto one disc. THE BOYS FROM BRAZIL: Ira Levin's best-selling novel is the basis for this incredible film about the perpetuation of a new race of Hitlers. When one of his proteges locates the elusive Nazi war criminal Dr. Josef Mengele (Peck), famed Nazi hunter Ezra Lieberman (a wonderful Olivier) stumbles on Mengele's grand scheme to murder 94 seemingly unconnected men -- a scheme that could somehow launch the Fourth Reich. THE MEDUSA TOUCH: Burton stars as a psycho with supernatural powers which enable him to cause worldwide disasters. Remick is the psychiatrist who attempts to control him.
