I have been a fan of meatloaf for many years and have seen him in concert may of this year.Though he is continuing to write new material it is not a touch on his music from the late seventies and early eighties. I purchased this dvd knowing that the best of his musical career would be on this and it would be one i could enjoy time and again. Of course there are people that would disagree and maybe prefer his new music but im here to give an opinion on what i think is his finest work. The dvd cover is typical of meatloaf album and dvd design with the usual man on machine blasting out of a graveyard and into the night. So ok,maybe not one that jumps off the shelf at you but all in all if your a fan then you know what to expect. The dvd contains nine songs and they are as follows.
THE SONGS
1.Bat Out Of Hell 2.Read 'em And Weep 3.Two Out Of Three Aint Bad 4.Razors Edge 5.More Than You Deserve 6.Im Gonna Love Her For Both Of Us 7.If You Really Want To 8.You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth 9.Paradise By The Dashboard Light
Now you may be wondering why the likes of 'Dead Ringer For Love' and 'Rock And Roll Dreams Come True are not on this dvd. Well i must say it quite baffled me too as being a digitally remastered dvd produced a few years ago they could have put all his well known ones on it. Nonetheless, actually watching meatloaf singing the groundbreaking 'Bat Out Of Hell' while throwing off his crushed velvet jacket and mopping his brow with silk scarves is a joy to behold. The version of 'Paradise By The Dashboard Light' is pure genius and his vocal talents are there to be admired. Die hard fans will recognise the fact that not all the songs on this dvd are great but its well worth the money to see the big man in action. A nice touch when scrolling through the song list is the use of a bat as a cursor.Rather amusing i found. So to sum up,a good album but could have added more material to it.
