Right, I know what you are thinking, and that is, why is a guy reviewing a chick flick film? Well my mom's obsessed with them and we now have watched too many to count. There is a rule in this family and that happens to be that we inevitably watch every film we ever buy all together, and therefore I had to watch this, however I've got quite used to watching chick flicks by now and I also don't mind them. This one in particular is my favourite and I've given it a 5 star rating...

The director of this film is Mark Waters, and by the look of things, he hasn't been a director for very long as he has only directed a few films... these include "Freaky Friday", This Film: "Mean Girls", "Just Like Heaven", "The Spiderwick Chronicles" and a few more I do not recognise. I also presume that he is a big fan of Lindsay Lohan as 3 of the films he's directed include Lindsay.

So who's in this film?
Well there's the main character called Cady Heron played by Lindsay Lohan, now I'm pretty sure everyone knows who she is and she is one of my favourite actresses at the moment, and I plan to try and watch every film she's ever been in although that would be hard to get but I shall try anyway... Here's a few famous films you might have seen her in: "The Parent Trap (1998 Film)" (She played the Twins Hallie and Annie) This was her first film debut, "Freaky Friday" (Played Main Role "Anna Coleman"), "Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen" (Played Main Role "Mary Elizabeth 'Lola' Cep"). She then starred in Mean Girls. She has starred in many other films after Mean Girls: "Herbie: Fully Loaded" (Main Role "Margaret 'Maggie' Peyton"), "Just My Luck" (Main Role "Ashley Albright"), and many others. She has also been in Ugly Betty as "Kimmie Keegan". She is not only an actress, she can sing too as she has been featured on many soundtracks and has also released 2 studio albums, another album is due to be released spring 2009

There is also Rachel McAdams (She plays Regina George) Rachel hasn't been in many films that I know of, there is a quite a list but most of which I have never watched, she's had the lead role in "The Notebook and also in "Red Eye" Both of which I haven't watched.

Lacey Chabert plays Gretchen Weiners; she has been in a number of films including The Wild Thornberry's Movie.

Amanda Seyfried plays Karen Smith. Now I'm sure many people have seen Amanda as you'll recognise her as Sophie in Mamma Mia! Her film career hasn't really taken off, as the films she's been in aren't too famous, however she's probably going top get more film opportunities now that she's been in Mamma Mia!

The rest of the cast are Teachers and they aren't included as such in the film, all of which also haven't got a big film career.

So I now know you are endlessly bored of my little profile on each of the actors/actresses. May I just say that everything within the profiles is taken from Wikipedia. I've noted down the films and selected which ones I have heard of, so you will not find the exact copy of the profiles on Wikipedia as I have only used the important sections.

Now, this film is a chick flick, however some chick flicks, guys like, I went to the cinema once for a birthday p[arty (My cousins) and we watched a chick flick and all the guys liked it. But now when you mention it they pretend that they hated it!

Anyway this film is really good. It starts off by introducing Cady to us. She is the daughter of a Zoologist. She has been home-schooled and so now her parents have decided to send her to proper school, and she's well unprepared and extremely nervous. It's like starting school from the very beginning again. Cady makes friends with two Outsiders called Damien and Janis. She quickly learns about the different people in school. However Regina asks Cady to sit by her and "The Plastics" at Lunch. Regina and Janis used to be friends but not any more, and now Janis wants pay back and sees this as the opportunity that she shouldn't waste.

Cady also has a crush on Regina's Ex-Boyfriend, but it's not right for you to go out with your friend's ex, according to the "plastics book of rules". So what will Cady do? Will she get together with Regina's ex? Will Regina realise Cady's not her true self? Will Cady die? Will Regina die? How will everything be solved? Find out by watching this fantastic DVD.

I did like this film lots, and I would say that I can't exactly pinpoint the exact good parts of the film as its all good. But I can tell you 1 bad point of which is obvious and that is, it's a typical teenage film. There are many films alike, including The Bratz film (I haven't watched it!) but they go to a school and they split up the status quo. High School Musical can be linked with this film too as they were all in groups until Troy did singing and then everyone came out with other things they like doing, getting rid of their status Quo. So I would say that this film is a typical teenage film, and separates the basis of the groups to make it one whole group where everyone gets along with everyone.

There are 3 quotes displayed on the DVD by critics here they are:

"Teen Movie of the Year" - Cosmo
"Irresistibly Funny" - The Times
"Sharp and Funny!" - FHM

As you can guess this film could also go under the category: Comedy, as many critics have said it's funny and I agree with them.

The rating for this film is 12 (12A in cinemas). I would say that this is a reasonable certification. Considering most film certifications are totally wrong at some points.

The cover isn't that imaginable, it could have been made a bit better... like have a proper background rather than leaving it plain pink. Also you can tell that Cady doesn't exactly fit within the Plastics! Mine says it's a "Special Collector's Edition" I do not quite understand that as it would be normally the same right? And it says running across the top "Widescreen Collection" That too doesn't make sense, surely everyone has a zoom button or something like that to fit the TV screen perfectly. However the disc inside has a brilliant cover and it should really be swapped round as the cover is pretty boring, when the disc is thought-provoked. And nobody looks at the disc cover for very long!

The soundtrack... I had expected some songs from Lindsay Lohan, especially since she can sing and she also features in this film, well she actually is the main character... So surely enough there's bound to be a song by her within the soundtrack, but no there isn't. However I shall say that I do like the soundtrack... Well what I heard of it within the film. I do not have the actual soundtrack and also even if I did, I shouldn't really be discussing it in my film review as it is a total different item altogether, but it's linked within this film.

Now as you should already know by now, I do not ever watch the special features... But considering this is a DVD review, I should really watch all aspects of the film, however I do not... But for the people wanting to know what special features are on here I shall give you what it says about them... I warn you though, that if one doesn't make sense I cannot help you with that ok?

Here are the special features:

- Commentary by Director Mark Waters, Screenplay Writer & Actress Tina Fey, and Producer Lorne Michaels.
- 3 Featurettes:
----- Only the Strong Survive
----- The Politics of Girl World
----- Plastic Fashion
- Word Vomit
- So Fetch - Deleted Scenes with Commentary by Director Mark Waters and Screenplay Writer Tina Fey
- 3 Interstitials
- Theatrical Trailer
- Widescreen Version - Enhanced for 16:9 TVs

I totally recommend this DVD to you all, and it'll probably make someone really happy for Christmas. But so will most of the other items I've reviewed. I hope I have helped you out about whether to buy this or not.

Also I am very pleased to find out that there will be a sequel directed from Mark Waters. But there isn't much about it at the moment, nobody knows if Lindsay will be in it but I do hope she is.

As ever, I'm sorry for the H, but for this to be a full DVD review, I would prefer to see a review of the extras in the same detail as your review of the film, not just a list of them.

Not so sure I would enjoy this to be honest, good review though
