Typical teenage movie about cliques and who not to mess with. The main character is Cady Heron who has just moved from Africa. Her parents who are Zoologists decide to send their daughter to a high school for the first time in her life, as she has always been home – schooled. Cady makes friends with the out crowd who persuade her to let on to be one of the plastics. She gains there trust and breaks them down one by one just to get the guy.

Basically this is Cady’s first school in her life and she wants to be liked (as does everyone when they first start a school). She makes friends with Janis and Damien who show her where her classes are. Then in the cafeteria on her second day she comes across the most popular girls in the school (the plastics) they start talking to her as Gretchen’s boyfriend is hitting on her. They then get her to sit at their table for the next week and it all starts from then on. Janis sees this as an opportunity to pay Regina back and gets Cady to let on that she likes the plastics and becomes one of them.

Cady goes everywhere with the plastics and gets transformed into one of them. From being a plain Jane to being popular. In her maths class one day she sees a guy that she really likes. It turns out that the guy is Regina’s ex boyfriend she tells the other two plastics about him and they warn her of him. Regina finds out and lets on that she doesn’t mind but really she goes back out with him again.

The plastics keep a book where they cut out pictures of people from school and write mean stuff that they found out about them. This book is kept secret and know one else knows about it apart from the plastics and Cady tells Janis and Damien about it. They ask if they are in it and Cady lies. I won’t spoil anymore of it but this book turns up in the school.

CAST

Lindsay Lohan – Plays the main 15 year old character Cady Heron. Plain Jane until she meets the plastics. They invite her to sit with them for lunch one day and they transform her into a completely different girl, including a different attitude. She becomes obsessed with the plastics and they are all she talks about, until she realises what she has done and who she can trust. Lindsay has starred in films such as: Freaky Friday, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, and The Parent Trap. Lohan wears size 9 shoes and she is of Italian and Irish descent.

Rachel McAdams – Plays the main plastic Regina George. Typical popular blonde girl who everyone envies and wants to be. She is the most popular beautiful girl at the school until she transforms Cady Heron. She doesn’t like the fact that her ex boyfriend Aaron Samuels is interested in Cady, so she tells him that Cady is obsessed with him and that she always talks about him. She does this so that he will go back out with her to make Cady jealous. Regina is very spoilt, and gets what she wants. Tells her clique (the plastics) what they can and cannot wear when sitting at their table in the school cafeteria. Her mother is just like her, dresses young and loves herself. Turns everything around when she finds out about Cady. Rachel has starred in The Hot Chick. Believe it are not she is actually 26 or 28 in November.

Lacey Chabert – Plays the part of Gretchen Wieners. She is one of the plastics, the one Regina tells her secrets to. Comes across as the weak one and angry because she is just as pretty as Regina. Her ex boyfriend cheated on her and hits on Cady on her first day of school. Gretchen loves him and wants him back. When Regina starts to ignore Gretchen she cracks up and starts telling Cady secrets that Regina told her. Everything then changes for Gretchen. Lacey was born in September 1982. She has starred in: Daddy Day Care, Lost in Space, and Family Guy. She is the voice of Eliza Thornberry in The Wild Thornberry’s. Lacey has 3 Chihuahuas named Teacup, Teaspoon and Tealeaf. She was Miss Jr Mississippi and childhood friends with rock star David Ham.

Amanda Seyfried – Plays the part of Karen Smith. Karen is the typical clueless blonde girl who knows nothing and is failing all her classes. She looks up to the plastics queen Regina, until she learns the truth about her. Amanda is not that well known yet but she has starred in All My Children.

Lizzy Caplan – Plays the part of Janis Ian. Janis takes Cady under her wing as she is the new girl and she doesn’t know her way around. Janis hates the plastics especially Regina. Her hatred was brought on back in 8th grade when Regina and herself use to be best friends, then she started calling her lesbian and making her life hell. Janis wants revenge and finds the perfect way by using Cady. She gets Cady to be one of the plastics and find out all their secrets as well as ruin their lives. It all backfires as Cady turns into a “Mean Girl”. Lizzy was born in June 1982. She has starred in Orange County and Smallville.

Daniel Franzese – Plays the part of Damien. He is friends with Janis. He is the typical gay male and would do anything for his friend. He helps Cady and Janis at destroying the lives of the plastics. Daniel was born in May 1978. He has starred in Bully, Hometown Legend and Stateside. He is an award winning amateur boxing champion.

Jonathan Bennett – Plays the part of Aaron Samuels. Typical teenage boy, he is the ex boyfriend of the most popular girl in school Regina George. They went out for a year and then he was interested in Cady until he got back together with Regina. He then found out what they were all like and then went with Cady. Jonathan has starred in All My Children and Season of Youth. He was president of his high school’s student council and he graduated in 1999.

Also Stars:

Tina Fey – Ms. Norbury (the teacher who gets Cady to join the maths club. Things turn sour for her when rumours spread because of what was in the book about her).

Tim Meadows – Mr Duvall (the head of the school who trys to stop all the fighting).

Amy Poehler – Mrs George
Ana Gasteyer – Betsy Heron (Cady’s Mum)
Neil Flynn – Chip Heron (Cady’s Dad)
Rajir Surendra – Kevin Gnapoor
Elana Shilling – Spelling Girl
Graham Kartha – Homeschooled Boy

Mean Girls is Rated PG 13
It contains Sexual Content
Bad Language
Teen Partying
The movie lasts for 97 minutes

I was actually surprised that this movie was good. I prefer to watch Action and Adventure movies and Horror for the suspense and not knowing what’s going to happen before watching the movie. Whereas before even watching this film you know what’s going to happen. Although you can guess what happens in this before you see it, it was still good to watch.

Mean Girls was funny and a lot of girls can relate to it as every girl has been mean to some other girl in school in there lifetime. You might not have said anything mean to their face but you were still thinking it (Am I right?). Mean Girls is basically about three shallow girls who love themselves and think they are better and more superior to everyone else. Some may see it as though these girls are bullies. Every school has these types of popular girls and they may or may not hate them.

I think that Lindsay Lohan played the part of Cady well because she seemed innocent until she falls into the wrong crowd. Again everyone can relate to this because it happens everywhere. Rachel McAdams pulled of playing such a young character. She was also good at being such a bitchy character. The other members of the plastics played the part well and got into character.

Overall I would recommend that you go see this if you like high school based movies with popular bitchy girls. The acting is good but not overly brilliant; I must admit I have seen better acting.
