AdvantagesGood for kids, a good villain

DisadvantagesDolph Lundgren is terrible, has dated pretty badly

"...minions for the title of Masters of the Universe, or something. The Cosmic Key is pretty important to the plot, perhaps that is all you need to know. One of the most amusing highlights of the film, which I failed to pick up on when I was a child, was that the Cosmic Key gets picked up by a musician and his girlfriend, who believe it to be a new Japanese synthesiser. It's a twist that really only belongs in a certain kind of cheesy 80's film. Oh, ..." Read review

Good acting, sense of fun
Too basic for adults too earthy for kids (*)
Some great episodes and some very good ones
Longer running time doesn't always work, a few duds (*)
extra features on blu ray
maybe a tad too long (*)
Exciting Sci-Fi action, neat nods to the old series, Cumberbatch is great as the villain
Chekov is the weak link in a strong cast, some elements contradict established continuity (*)
Visually spectacular, Stanton's easy-going direction, epic action, believable leading couple
A familiar plot, slow start, and a touch too long (*)
Lots of spectacle.
Muddled tone and style, weak plot and some iffy effects. (*)
Great movie
none (*)
similar by Media Format (DVD)
good effects, good performances
not entirely true to the comics/cartoons (*)
There's no denying it, robots rock! Especially when they're evil robots with beady red eyes...
Blatant product placement, plenty of continuity errors and the GCI robots out-act the humans. (*)
an ok start to a rebooted series of films. makes me want to see the next one
a bit long in some places and lacking in others (*)
Good SFX, sound, Smith & Jones, direction
too short, thin characterisation, waste of Fiorentino talents (*)
captures the fears of the era, good example of old science fiction, intersting story
drags on a little too long, special effects look a bit naff (*)
