Lone Wolf and Cub kick some serious butt
Advantages: a decent samurai movie Disadvantages: dubbing, sound quality in parts as well as picture quality
This is a classic old school samurai film. This film was previously banned in this country for it's violent graphic nature, but nowadays I guess we are made of sterner stuff. If you are easily distressed then this moive is not for you. There are very explicit scenes of swords being buried into heads, heads splitting in half, and more blood gushing than you can shake a stick at.
The film centres around Ogami Itto, who is played by Tomisaburo Wakayama ... ...to be referred to has Lone wolf and Cub. Itto is the shoguns chief executioner and a powerful man. So much so that lord Retsudo soon wants him dead out of sheer fear. In the initial attack Itto's wife is slain, and Itto decides to dedicate his life to taking the life of lord Retsudo and all those close to him, {one way of getting rid of the existential angst i guess} In a scene at this point he places a ball on the floor and a sword and he makes ...

Shaolin Soccer
Advantages: Funny, Hilarious Disadvantages: Fight scenes could have been more in numbers.
...evil" faces off against The shaolin team. The evil team is on drugs, and have attained super human powers because of that. It is because of this, the goal keeper of shaolin team gets brutally injured and is replaced by one of the other players. Iron shirt the now goal keeper also gets injured and the team falls short of one player. It is at this time that Mui shows up and takes the place of goal keeper. In the final attack, Team Evil's striker leaps ... ...feild into half. Thus the Shaolin team wins the tournament. Hung gets stripped of title and is banned for the use of drugs.
Well, according to me, the movies is worth the amount and is damn funny and hilarious. You can watch it not just once, but again and again and not even get bored. ...

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon Confuses Audience
Advantages: See what life might have been like during the Qing Dynasty Disadvantages: it left the viewer confused with unanswered questions
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon takes place during the Qing Dynasty and tells the story of woman and men warriers and a sword known as the Green Destiny. I was utterly confused when watching this movie and had a hard time grasping my head around the plot. This story line was very difficult to follow and was needed to be searched on the Internet to discover the plot. In my opinion, the movie didn't answer any questions that were set up in the beginning ... ...plot and the characters of the story were to confusing that it was distracting from the effects included. Personally, I beleive that Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon was a pointless movie in which there was no plot but just a series of random events that made transitions through the movie. ...

Must See - Brilliant & Ingeneous martial arts!
Advantages: Culturally accurate (As I can tell), Comical, Excellent martial arts & Choreography. Disadvantages: Not too deep, more for action than story.
I watched this movie as a recommendation from a friend. - And I'm glad I did. This is one of Jackie Chans' first films and helped hurtle him into stardom. Don't be put off by my special effects rating, a good martial arts film doesn't need them! The choreography is outstanding and carries the film from start to finish. The story is of a young unruly martial arts student (Jackie) who is forced by his father to leave town to train with a legendary ... ...of all, feared by new apprentices'. The young Jackie later discovers the legend is all but an old drunk. He dismisses him, until later through a funny and riveting series of events their paths meet again. As the film continues, Jackie's character, Wong Fei-Hung, is taught 'drunken Kung Fu'. In the mean time it is revealed an assassin has been sent after Wongs' father. I think it is plain to see that this is soley a martial arts movie; the story there ...
