Tung Lung, Honours Bruce's death
Review of Game Of Death 2 (Wide Screen) by Bandit_Haze

Advantages: Excellent martial arts, from Tung Lung
Disadvantages: none

Game of Death 2 Staring Tung Lung, Huong Cheng-Li, Roy Horan, Lee Hoi-San and previously unseen footage of Bruce Lee. The film in many ways is similar to Fist of Fury 2 they are both about avenging the death of a brother. In this case Bobby Lo played by Tung Lung set out to get revenge for the death of Billy Lo (Bruce Lee) at the hands of Jim Koo (Huong Cheng-Li). This film has a lot less American influence than Game of Death , which ...
...and fighting scenes than a well thought out story Probably the best Bruce Lee film ever made, even though Bruce Lee is not actually in it. Made with previously unseen footage of his films, a stand in and completed with the classic poorly dubbed English lame dialogue and amazing Kung Fu. When Billy Lo (Bruce Lee) is killed at friend Jim Koo's funeral, brother Bobby Lo (Tong Lung) sets out to avenge his death. Bobby Lo sets off to Japan to meet ... Read review

A disgrace to the memory of a legend
Review of Bruce Lee - The Man - The Myth DVD by mimicmwb

Advantages: the story gave a brief insight into Lee's life
Disadvantages: poor acting, poor effects, poor music

...the film didn't actually star Bruce Lee. It was an attempt at portraying his life up until his untimely death. The actor playing Lee was obviously a well trained martial artist but he didn't act very well at all; to be honest I felt a little embarrassed to be watching it. THE STORY This biography of famed martial arts actor Bruce Lee begins as Lee is leaving Hong Kong for America, to fulfill his mother's wishes. The story follows him to San Francisco, ...
...shows some of the conflicts Bruce Lee actually faced in his life, such as racism. There are some electric fight scenes and some actual footage from Bruce Lee films (The Big Boss for instance). "Did I enjoy it?" --- I did enjoy the fighting but the acting skills were rubbish and so, on the whole, I didn't enjoy the film The story was good, the director really choose the most influencial periods in Bruce Lee's life to portray into film. I didn't ... Read review

When Action meets Art
Review of Hero DVD by Agula

Advantages: Interesting, fast going, challenging.
Disadvantages: Requires concetration.

The first time I saw it I didn't understand as it was in Mandarin and subtitles in Swedish. A nameless warrior wants to kill an emperor. Isn't that ordinary? But when that warrior talks to the emperor introducing different versions of the assassins' plotting the simple story becomes intruiging. I was fascinated by the way the fights were filmed, by the play of colours and textures and by the way the producers/directors managed to create a complex ... Read review

Kickboxer
Review of Kickboxer (Wide Screen) by jonboy76

Advantages: Inspirational- easy watching
Disadvantages: cheesy- simple plot- but effective

Well where do I start with this film? This is one of those inspirational films like Karate kid that makes you want to get off the sofa and take up kickboxing or other martial arts or learn the splits. This film has a real basic but predictable story line - without ruining it too much you can guess the ending within the first ten minutes. The plot wait for it, if you don't want to see stop reading now; Is revenge- Vamme Dam's (Kurt Sloanne) brother ...
...but doesn't have the necessary skills so learns from a master and of course there's the love interest too.. This is basically an easy watching adult version of Karate Kid. Would recommend this especially as it's a classic in the true sense and so easy watching and somewhat inspirational and touching. Very cheap price and certainly worth it ... Read review

Jet Li's old news
Review of Ong Bak (Subtitled And Dubbed) (Platinum Edition) by galatico1

Advantages: The martial arts skills
Disadvantages: Dubbed

...so hero goes to rescue it but finds trouble and so on. A common story through most films, but none the less Ong Bak is a greatly respected film, which should be at least watched just to admire the stunts and martials arts skills of Tony Jaa if not purchased. ... Read review
